FAJR REMINDER: NOTHING BUT A MIRAGE

We often find ourselves enamored with this life, filled with beautiful homes, luxurious cars, wealth, fame, honor, and power. It was narrated by Anas (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu) that the Prophet (ﷺ) stated: “If the son of Ādam had a valley full of gold, he would want to have two valleys. Nothing fills his mouth but the dust of the grave, yet Allāh will accept whoever repents to him.” [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6439, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 1048]
Truly, nothing quenches man's insatiable greed in this world except death. It's no surprise that the wealthy strive to amass even more riches, even when their current possessions could sustain an entire community. But can the wealthy attain happiness (rest and satisfaction) through these worldly gains? The answer is no! Happiness is not determined by the quantity of possessions but rather by the ability to live contentedly without them, all while continuously remembering Allāh. Allāh states: “…Verily, in the remembrance of Allāh, do hearts find rest.” [Sūrah Ar-Ra’d (13): 28] He also mentions: “And whoever turns away from My Remembrance - indeed, he will have a depressed life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind.” [Sūrah Ta Ha (20): 124]
While we are deeply attached to this world, we must ask ourselves: does it reciprocate our affection? Death serves as a harsh reality, while this life presents a beautiful illusion. It is brief, fleeting, and finite, it will soon come to an end. Allāh diminishes its significance, stating: “…And what is in this world except enjoyment of delusion.” [Sūrah Aal-‘Imrān (3): 185]
By Allāh! The pleasures of this life, when compared to the bliss of the Hereafter, are trivial, a mere drop in the ocean. Allāh asserts: “Nay, you prefer the life of this world; although the Hereafter is better and more lasting.” [Sūrah Al-A’la (87): 16-17] How can a wise individual choose the transient over the eternal?
I humbly beseech Allāh to count us among the successful ones. Aameen.
