GUARD YOUR FAST!

 FAJR REMINDER: GUARD YOUR FAST!

By: Umm Affān

Ramaḍān 2, 1447 (19-February-2026)

We express our sincere gratitude to Allāh for making Siyām obligatory and Qiyām acts of merit during the month of Ramaḍān. It is narrated from Abū Hurayrah (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu) that the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) stated: “He who observes the fast of the month of Ramaḍān out of sincerity and hope for the reward from Allāh will have his past sins forgiven. Whoever stands in prayer during the Night of Decree due to faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.” [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 1901, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 760]

In another report, Abū Hurayrah (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu) narrated that the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) encouraged the practice of standing for night prayers during Ramaḍān, though he did not impose it upon anyone. The Prophet would say, “Whoever stands in prayer during Ramaḍān due to faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.” After the Prophet’s passing, this practice continued, as it did during the Khalīfah of Abū Bakr and early in the Khalīfah of ‘Umar. [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 2009, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 759]

It is important to note that the sins which can be forgiven, as mentioned in the above Aḥadīth, are primarily the minor ones. Abū Hurayrah (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu) also reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “The five daily prayers, and Friday to Friday, and Ramaḍān to Ramaḍān, are an expiation for what is in between them, if you stay away from the major sins.” [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 233]

O Muslims! Let us fast during the day and stand in prayer at night with genuine belief, earnestly seeking Allāh’s Reward so that He may forgive us our sins.

Moreover, among the actions that diminish one’s reward for fasting and hinder excellence during this blessed period is the indulgence in Laghw (vain talk), such as lying, cursing, gossiping, backbiting, slandering, and singing (or listening to music). Abū Hurayrah (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) mentioned: “Whoever does not give up false speech and acting upon it, Allāh has no need of his giving up his food and drink.” [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 1903]

Indeed, what benefit do we derive from engaging in such vain conversation? Shayṭān beautifies sinful actions for us, leading many to consider them negligible. However, we must resist Shayṭān to genuinely benefit. Dear Brethren, let us not waste the rewards of our fasting. Those frivolous talks are not worth it—let us refrain from them!

I beseech Allāh to keep us steadfast in obeying Him. Aameen.

NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Arba'a. 29th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Wednesday 8th May 2024). *_NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH_*. BismilLah.  Even though feelings of Panic, stress/worries etc are part of life, they must not reduce our acts of worship or trust in ALLAH. The more a man turns to ALLAH and focuses on HIM, the more he will feel a sense of peace and comfort, to an extent that no one knows except ALLAH. Hence those who know ALLAH, are close to HIM and fear HIM are the happiest of people, to such an extent that one of them said, in a well-known expression: “If the kings and the sons of kings knew what joy we have, they would fight us for it with the sword.” This is also what is expressed in the Qur’an, as ALLAH says: “Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him ALLAH will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and ALLAH will ...

HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaum Al-Khamis, 22nd day of Jumaadal Uula 1447AH, Thursday, 13th November, 2025.  *_HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN_*. BismilLah.  When we help our brothers and sisters in Islam, in reality, we are helping ourselves. The Messenger of ALLAH (S.A.W) said: He who relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, ALLAH Azzawajallah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Judgment. He who makes easy what is difficult, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will make it easy for him in the world and the hereafter. He who conceals the faults of a Muslim, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will conceal his faults in this ALLAH Azzawajallah world and the Hereafter, for ALLAH helps the servant as long as he helps his brother. Source: Ṣaḥīḥ "Muslim 2699. AlhamdulilLah.  With this I hope with immediate effect we will all strive to help each other in any possible way such as making dua for each other, supporting our relatives and those in need in ou...
