FAJR REMINDER: PUT DOWN THE SHAVER!

Ramaḍān 3, 1447 (20-February-2026)
If you view keeping a beard as unsociable or believe it makes you unattractive, consider Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ). He was a stunning example of creation, known for his handsome features, captivating appearance, and radiant face—all complemented by a thick, full beard.
Furthermore, many of our righteous predecessors who sported beards upheld this practice. It’s essential to understand this: recognizing the beard as a Sunnah of the Prophet (ﷺ) signifies its integral role in Islām. Indeed, he (ﷺ) firmly instructed: “Act against (i.e. contrary to) the polytheists, trim the moustache closely and grow the beard.” [Ṣaḥiḥ Muslim 259]
So, why hesitate to grow your beard? Remember, Allāh says: “O you who believe! Obey Allāh and His Messenger and turn not away from him (i.e. Muḥammad ﷺ) while you are hearing. And be not like those who say: ‘We have heard,’ but they hear not.” [Sūrah Al-Anfāl (8): 20-21]
Oh, Muslim men who shave their beards! Why not embrace it? A beard enhances a man’s attractiveness and clearly signifies his masculinity. Additionally, several health benefits are associated with keeping a beard, particularly a full and thick one. These include blocking up to 95 percent of the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays, which can lead to skin cancer and acne flare-ups; protecting the throat and lungs by filtering out airborne bacteria; reducing bacterial infections; saving time spent shaving; and improving one's sex life, as research indicates that facial hair serves as a strong socio-sexual signal and a clear biological marker of sexual maturity. Ultimately, true success lies in obeying Allāh and His Messenger. Let this Ramaḍān serve as a turning point for you.
I beseech Allāh to make us His devoted servants. Aameen.
