Tarawih-Tahajjud* [[-- Episode 1 --]]

 *Tarawih-Tahajjud*

[[-- Episode 1 --]]
------------------

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Tahajjud was ordained by means of express quranic verse:

قُمِ ٱلَّيْلَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا

"Arise [to pray] the night, except for a little". 📚(73:2)

Taraweeh being a Sunnah was established through the hadith of Rasulullah (pbuh).

Evidence:

“I have made its standing Sunnah upon for you.” 📚 Authentic

Secondly,

Tahajjud is generally performed after sleeping while Taraweeh is performed immediately after Esha prayer.

*Does Taraweeh replace Tahajjud prayer in the Month of Ramadan?*

Concerning Taraweeh prayer, the Prophet (pbuh) said: "Whoever prays qiyaam with the imam until he finishes, it will be recorded for him as if he spent an entire night in prayer.” 📚 at-Tirmidhi (806)

This virtue is for the one who prays Taraweeh with the imam and finishes with him.

The end of Taraweeh prayer and its completion at which the imam finishes has been defined by Islamic teaching as being Witr prayer.

Evidence:

Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (ra) that the Prophet (pbuh) said: “Make the last of your prayers at night Witr.” 📚 al-Bukhaari (998) and Muslim (751).

Now,

Whether the witr prayer is offered immediately after ‘Isha’ or at the end of the night, in order to attain the virtue of praying during the last third of the night, all of that is prescribed.

Evidence:

The Prophet (pbuh) said: “Whoever fears that he will not get up at the end of the night, let him pray Witr at the beginning. Whoever is sure that he will get up at the end of the night, let him pray Witr at the end, for prayer at the end of the night is witnessed, and that is better.” 📚Muslim (755).

Based on that, whoever prays some rak‘ahs with the first congregation after ‘Isha’ prayer, and prays Witr with the imam of that congregation, has completed Taraweeh prayer by praying Witr with the imam, and has fulfilled the condition of attaining the reward of spending the entire night in prayer by finishing with the imam, and he does not have to pray witr with another imam at the end of the night, because the first prayer is complete.

Whoever wants to pray both prayers *(Taraweeh & Tahajjud)*, seeking more reward, is doing something good, but he should not pray Witr twice, because the Prophet (pbuh) forbade doing that.

Evidence:

It was narrated from Qays ibn Talq ibn ‘Ali, from his father, who said: I heard the Prophet (pbuh) say: “There should not be two Witrs in one night.” 📚 at-Tirmidhi (470)

In that case, he has two options, each of which was the view of a group of scholars:

(1) The first option:

When he prays with the first imam and prays Witr with him, he may add a rak‘ah so that it will become even-numbered, then at the end of the night if he wants, he may pray alone or join the other imam in his prayer and join him in Witr too.

(2) The second option:

He may pray the first Witr as such, then when he want to pray Tahajjud or pray with the second imam who prays Witr  at the end of the night, he may either leave and not pray witr with him, or he may pray with him and add another rak‘ah, intending it to be qiyaam al-layl.

To be continued...

NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Arba'a. 29th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Wednesday 8th May 2024). *_NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH_*. BismilLah.  Even though feelings of Panic, stress/worries etc are part of life, they must not reduce our acts of worship or trust in ALLAH. The more a man turns to ALLAH and focuses on HIM, the more he will feel a sense of peace and comfort, to an extent that no one knows except ALLAH. Hence those who know ALLAH, are close to HIM and fear HIM are the happiest of people, to such an extent that one of them said, in a well-known expression: “If the kings and the sons of kings knew what joy we have, they would fight us for it with the sword.” This is also what is expressed in the Qur’an, as ALLAH says: “Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him ALLAH will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and ALLAH will ...

HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaum Al-Khamis, 22nd day of Jumaadal Uula 1447AH, Thursday, 13th November, 2025.  *_HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN_*. BismilLah.  When we help our brothers and sisters in Islam, in reality, we are helping ourselves. The Messenger of ALLAH (S.A.W) said: He who relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, ALLAH Azzawajallah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Judgment. He who makes easy what is difficult, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will make it easy for him in the world and the hereafter. He who conceals the faults of a Muslim, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will conceal his faults in this ALLAH Azzawajallah world and the Hereafter, for ALLAH helps the servant as long as he helps his brother. Source: Ṣaḥīḥ "Muslim 2699. AlhamdulilLah.  With this I hope with immediate effect we will all strive to help each other in any possible way such as making dua for each other, supporting our relatives and those in need in ou...

BEST TIME FOR TAHAJJUD

*BEST TIME FOR TAHAJJUD* It is best to delay this prayer to the last third portion of the night. Abu Hurairah reports that the Messenger of Allah said: "Our Lord descends to the lowest heaven during the last third of the night, inquiring: 'Who will call on Me so that I may respond to him? Who is asking something of Me so I may give it to him? Who is asking for My forgiveness so I may forgive him?"' This is related by the group. 'Amr ibn Abasah reports that he heard the Prophet say: "The closest that a slave comes to his Lord is during the middle of the latter portion of the night. If you can be among those who remember Allah, the Exalted One, at that time then do so." This is related by al-Hakim who grades it sahih according to Muslim's standards, and at-Tirmizhi calls it hasan sahih. AnNasa'i and Ibn Khuzaimah also recorded it. Abu Muslim asked Abu Zharr: "Which late-night prayer is the best?" He said: "I asked the Messenger of A...
