STUDIES of SUURAH Al-‘Alaq (Qur’an 96).

 DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaumul ahad, 5th day of Ramadhan, 1447AH, Sunday, 22nd February, 2026. *_STUDIES of SUURAH Al-‘Alaq (Qur’an 96). BismilLah. 


This suurah is widely known as the first revelation sent to our beloved Prophet ﷺ in the Cave of Hira. It marks the beginning of revelation to Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam while he was in the Cave of Hira during the month of Ramadan. The Angel Jibreel Alaihi Salaam commanded him: “Iqra’ (Read/Recite).”

This moment changed the history of humanity forever.

Arabic Text, Meanings & Commentary

1–5 (The First Revelation)

اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ ۝ خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ ۝ اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ ۝ الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ ۝ عَلَّمَ الْإِنسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ

Meaning:

Recite in the name of your Lord who created. Created man from a clot. Recite, and your Lord is Most Generous. Who taught by the pen.

Taught man what he did not know.

✨ Commentary: 

The first command in Islam is “Read or Recite.” Knowledge comes before action. “In the name of your Lord” our learning must be connected to ALLAH Azzawajal.

“From a clot” — a reminder of our humble origin.

“Taught by the pen” — ALLAH honours knowledge, writing, and education.

ALLAH is Al-Akram (The Most Generous) — knowledge itself is a gift. TO BE CONTINUED TOMORROW IN SHAA ALLAH.

 *BEST TIME FOR TAHAJJUD* It is best to delay this prayer to the last third portion of the night. Abu Hurairah reports that the Messenger of Allah said: "Our Lord descends to the lowest heaven during the last third of the night, inquiring: 'Who will call on Me so that I may respond to him?
