*🌴Peace be upon you all.*
*You can hide alcohol in*
*a bottle but not in the belly.*
*Drinking is undoubtedly a controversial topic. And often people who do not engage in it assume a judgmental approach towards those who do. Well, I do not wish to take that approach. As I have often done, I want to reason with you. I am going to do so, not from a religious point of view but from a physiological view point. Did you know that there is no place to store alcohol in our bodies the way food is stored? So what happens then when you drink? Our body sees the alcohol as a threat, needing immediate resistance and expulsion. And since it's the liver's job to get rid of toxic substances in the body, it takes on this task leaving other crucial tasks like producing glucose. And you know, glucose is needed for the brain to function well. That's why a lot of people can't think straight and become on edge when their glucose level is low. But it appears as if the problem will be resolved if the person eats some carbohydrate (glucose-producing) foods. It's not as simple as that. Alcohol also releases dopamine, which makes a person feel "great". But here is the flip side: it also triggers the release of certain chemicals in the brain, altering the dopamine levels and causing periodic depression. In effect, when you drink alcohol, you confuse your body. And when a system is in a state of confusion you cannot be sure of what exactly to expect from it. Don't be surprised at what you end up doing when you drink. Be guarded!*
