Every human being wants freedom. But freedom in its real sense is based on perception of this world.
Because Allaah (ﷻ) says;
*وَمَا خَلَقۡنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَمَا بَيۡنَہُمَا باطِلاً۬ۚ ذَٲلِكَ ظَنُّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْۚ فَوَيۡلٌ۬ لِّلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ*
_And We created not the heaven and the earth and all that is between them without purpose! That is the consideration of those who disbelieve! Then woe to those who disbelieve (in Islamic Monotheism) from the Fire!_
(Saad 38: 27)
Nobody wishes to be imprisoned or enslaved but this doesn't imply that we should live without laws and rules.
Reason: We were created for a purpose
*Allaah (ﷻ) says:*
*وَمَا خَلَقْتُ ٱلْجِنَّ وَٱلْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ*
_And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me._
(Adh-Dhariyat 51:56)
Our purpose in dunya is not to follow our desires!
Allaah (ﷻ) our Creator has laid down rules for us to live with, and whatever He has declared halaal for us definitely has intense benefits in it and whatever He (ﷻ) says is haraam will definitely harm us.
Knowing this, we can live freely by simply abiding by Allaah (ﷻ)'s rules and abstaining from what he has forbidden to the best of our abilities, because without rules and laws we would all be living like animals.
Alhamdulillah that we are Muslims.
Alhamdulillah that we are privileged to be servants of Allaah (ﷻ).
Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen [رحمه الله] said, _“If a free person says that he is freed from slavery to the creation, then yes he is free from slavery to the creation._
_However, if he intends by this that he is freed from servitude to Allaah (ﷻ), then indeed he has erred in his understanding of servitude and he does not understand the meaning of freedom._
_That is because servitude to other than Allaah (ﷻ) is bondage._
_As for servitude to Allaah (ﷻ), then this is the real freedom because if he does not humble himself to Allaah (ﷻ), he will humble himself to other than Allaah (ﷻ)._
_So he deceives himself when he says that he is free—meaning, he is liberated from obedience to Allaah (ﷻ)”._
*[Excerpt from ‘Al-Manaahiy al-Laf’dhiyyah: page: 117. slightly paraphrased]*
By Allaah (ﷻ), wanting freedom from servitude to Allaah (ﷻ) is a pure deception from Shaytan, the accursed.
Sadly, people carry this ideology today and even stand and fight for this ideology to be established.
This is the work of Shaytan
So, we as Muslims should have this basic knowledge at the back of our minds so as not to be swayed by others craving for "freedom" to fulfil their evil desires and inclinations.
May Allaah (ﷻ) grant us a soul that is pleased in servitude to Him and reward us with Jannah for our patience in this Dunya... Aameen
