Surah Al-Anaam, Verse 149 and 150

*Surah Al-Anaam, Verse 149:*

قُلْ فَلِلَّهِ الْحُجَّةُ الْبَالِغَةُ فَلَوْ شَاءَ لَهَدَاكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

Say: "With Allah is the perfect proof and argument, (i.e. the Oneness of Allah, the sending of His Messengers and His Holy Books, etc. to mankind), had He so willed, He would indeed have guided you all."

#COMMENTARY

On the other hand, the argument cuts true and deep, as from Almighty ALLĀH (Sub-haanahu wata'aala) to His creatures. ALLĀH is Omnipotent, and can do all that we can conceive. But, He, in His Wisdom, has given some responsibility, and some choice in order to train man's will. If man fails, he is helped in various ways by ALLĀH'S mercy and grace. But man cannot go on sinning, and in a state of sin, expect ALLĀH to be pleased with him (Qur-ān chapter vi, verse 147).

*Surah Al-Anaam, Verse 150:*

قُلْ هَلُمَّ شُهَدَاءَكُمُ الَّذِينَ يَشْهَدُونَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ حَرَّمَ هَٰذَا فَإِن شَهِدُوا فَلَا تَشْهَدْ مَعَهُمْ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءَ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا وَالَّذِينَ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِالْآخِرَةِ وَهُم بِرَبِّهِمْ يَعْدِلُونَ

Say: "Bring forward your witnesses, who can testify that Allah has forbidden this. Then if they testify, testify not you (O Muhammad [Blessings and Peace of ALLĀH be upon him]) with them. And you should not follow the vain desires of such as treat Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) as falsehoods, and such as believe not in the Hereafter, and they hold others as equal (in worship) with their Lord."

#COMMENTARY

The pagan superstitions were of course baseless, and in many cases harmful and debasing. If ALLĀH'S name was taken as supporting them, no true man of God could be taken in, or join in support simply because ALLĀH'S name was taken in vain.

Compared chapter vi, verse 1. Almighty ALLĀH, who created and who cherishes and cares for all, should have the first claim on our attention. Those who set up false gods fail to understand ALLĀH'S true governance or their own true destiny.
