Retiring to Bed

 *Retiring to Bed*

------------------------------

بسم الله الرحمان الرجيم

“When you want to go to bed to sleep, make wudu as you would for the prayer, then lie on your right side…” 📚(Bukhari, Hadeeth no: 6311; Ibn Hajar, Fathul-Bari, 11/109)

My people!

Amongst many Sunnahs that relate to sleeping, making wudu before going to bed is one that yields much gain. Yes. Bcos there are many incentives for practicing this sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH).

Here are a few of the incentives for one who sleeps with wudu:

(1) The du’a of the Angels.

Ibn ‘Abbas (r.a.) reported that The Prophet (PBUH) said: ‘Purify these bodies and Allah will purify you, for any slave who goes to sleep in a state of purity has an Angel that spends the night with him. Every time he turns over, [the Angel] says, ‘O Allah! Forgive Your slave, for he went to bed in a state of purity.’ 📚Al-Mu’jamul Awsat of Tabarani, Hadith: 5087

(2) The soul will make sajdah under the ‘Arsh (Throne) of Allah Most High.

Abud Darda (r.a.) has said: ‘When a person sleeps, his soul (ruh) rises to the throne (‘Arsh) of Allah. If he slept with wudu, the soul is permitted to make sajdah (by the ‘Arsh of Allah). If he slept in the state of impurity, permission for sajdah is refused.’ 📚Kitabuz Zud of Ibnul Mubarak, Hadith: 1245. Also see: Fathul Bari, Hadith: 1149)

(3) The reward of engaging in salah and dhikr the entire night.

Abu Murayah Al ‘Ijli (r.a.) said: ‘Whoever retires to bed in the state of wudu and falls off to sleep while engaging in the dhikr of Allah Most High, his bed will be regarded as a Masjid. He will receive the reward of being in salah and dhikr until he awakens.’ 📚Musannaf ‘Abdur Razzaq, Hadith: 19837 and Fathul Bari, Hadith: 6311

*Beneficial Question:*

✅ If sleeping invalidates wudu, why are we encouraged to do wudu before sleeping?

Answer:

We have the hadith: "... Whenever you go to bed perform ablution like that for the prayer..."

However, sleeping (or, at least, deep sleep) is regarded as invalidating wudu

Hence the question:

✅ If sleeping invalidates wudu, why are we encouraged to do wudu before sleeping?

Sahih al-Bukhari continues "...if you die on that very night, you will die with faith..." and Sahih Muslim instead says "...you would die upon Fitra...".

*Menstruating Women:*

Is it permissible for a woman in her menses to make wudu' or ghusl?

Yes, it is permissible. However, she cannot perform salat or read the Qur'an al-karim with this wudu'. If, at each time of salat, she performs an ablution, sits on her prayer rug, performs tasbih [by saying La ilaha ill-Allah or Subhan-Allah, for example], invokes blessings upon our Master the Prophet, make Du'a, or makes remembrance of Allahu ta'ala in any way for as long as it normally takes her to perform that particular salat, she will be given as many rewards as she was given in return for the salat that she performed best.

NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Arba'a. 29th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Wednesday 8th May 2024). *_NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH_*. BismilLah.  Even though feelings of Panic, stress/worries etc are part of life, they must not reduce our acts of worship or trust in ALLAH. The more a man turns to ALLAH and focuses on HIM, the more he will feel a sense of peace and comfort, to an extent that no one knows except ALLAH. Hence those who know ALLAH, are close to HIM and fear HIM are the happiest of people, to such an extent that one of them said, in a well-known expression: “If the kings and the sons of kings knew what joy we have, they would fight us for it with the sword.” This is also what is expressed in the Qur’an, as ALLAH says: “Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him ALLAH will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and ALLAH will ...

One of the question asked is can a Christian enter Jannah today?

One of the question asked is can a Christian enter Jannah today? Alhamdulillah, it is clear from Quran and hadiths that any christian who dies believing Jesus is God or son of God and do not believe in prophet Muhammad Peace be Upon Him will enter hellfire. Allah says, Al-Ma'idah 5:17 They have certainly disbelieved who say that Allāh is Christ, the son of Mary. Say, "Then who could prevent Allāh at all if He had intended to destroy Christ, the son of Mary, or his mother or everyone on the earth?" And to Allāh belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them. He creates what He wills, and Allāh is over all things competent.

Friday and it's dignity.

Friday and it's dignity. O you who have believed, when [the adhān] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumuʿah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allāh and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew. Friday is the best day of the week because it was the day Adam was created, the day he entered paradise and the day he was removed from paradise. it was also the day he died and the hour(qiyaamah) will not come except on this day. Sahih. It was narrated from Aws bin Aws that: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Whoever washes (ghassala) and performs ghusl, comes early to the masjid and sits near the imam and does not engage in idle talk, he will have for every step he takes (the reward of) a year's worth of good deeds, fasting it and...
