*Visiting the Sick*
[[--Final Episode-- ]]------------------------------
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
We should strive to revive the sunnah of visiting the sick, so that, we will not be amongst those who will be queried by Allah (swt) on the day of judgement for ignoring the sick amongst us.
Evidence:
*‘O son of Adam, I was sick and you did not visit Me.’* He will say, ‘O my Lord, how could I visit You, when you are the Lord of the Worlds.’ Allah will say, ‘Did you not know that My servant so-and-so was sick and you did not visit him? Did you not know that if you had visited him, you would have found Me there?’ 📚(Saheeh Muslim)
Now,
Continuation of episode 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 - as promised.
*Time for visiting:*
There is nothing in the Sunnah that suggests that there is a specific time for visiting the sick.. Yes.. Ibn al-Qayyim said: "The Prophet (PBUH) did not specify any particular day or time for visiting the sick, rather he prescribed that for his ummah by night and by day, at all times". 📚Zaad al-Ma’aad, 1/497
Salaf (سلف, "predecessors") or "al-salaf al-ṣaliḥ" (السلف الصالح, "the pious predecessors") are often taken to be the first three generations of prophet Muhammad's companions.. Some of them used to visit the sick at the beginning of the day or in the early evening, so that the angels would send blessings upon them for the longest time, based on the hadeeth - : “There is no Muslim who visits a (sick) Muslim early in the morning but seventy thousand 70,000 angels send blessings upon him or her until evening comes, and if he or she visits the sick in the evening, seventy thousand 70,000 angels send blessings upon him or her until morning comes, and he or she will have a garden in Paradise.” 📚 [Timizi, Abu Dawood]
But,
We should pay attention to the condition of the sick person and what is easiest for him or her.. Yes.. The visitor should not choose the time that suits him best, if that is going to cause hardship to the sick person or his family.
*Reassuring The Sick and Giving Them Hope by Making Du'a For Them:*
Du’a should be made for the sick person in the manner narrated in the Sunnah:
▪️“La ba’s, tuhoor in sha Allaah (No worry, it is a purification, if Allah wills).” 📚Narrated by al-Bukhaari.
▪️Du’aa’ for healing should be said three times 3X.. The Prophet (saw) visited Sa’d ibn Abi Waqqaas and said 3X: “O Allaah, heal Sa’d,” 📚Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5659) and Muslim (1628).
▪️The Prophet (PBUH) used to place his right hand on the sick person and say: “Adhhib al-ba’s Rabb an-naas, wa’shfi anta al-Shaafi, laa shifaa’a illa shifaa’uka shifaa’an laa yughaadir saqaman.. Meaning - (Take away the pain, O Lord of mankind, and grant healing, for You are the Healer, and there is no healing but Your healing that leaves no trace of sickness).” 📚Narrated by Muslim, 2191.
Finally,
We should try to locate sick person or persons around us, pay them a visit.. Let us do this at least 2X every week. Yes. The rewards & benefits are so enticing *(It Keeps You Far Away From The Fire of Jahannam By A Distance Equivalent Of Sixty (60) Years, Seventy Thousand 70,000 Angels Will Send Blessings Upon You, You Have Built Yourself A Home In Paradise, etc etc)*. Is it not enticing?
And,
Whether they are related or not related to us, whether they are those who struggle day & night to cause us harm or pain😳. Yes. Visit them.
