*Let's commence today on how this verse was revealed*👇.                                       *[24:6] Al-Nūr-النُّوْر*
"وَ الَّذِیۡنَ یَرۡمُوۡنَ اَزۡوَاجَہُمۡ وَ لَمۡ  یَکُنۡ لَّہُمۡ شُہَدَآءُ  اِلَّاۤ  اَنۡفُسُہُمۡ فَشَہَادَۃُ اَحَدِہِمۡ  اَرۡبَعُ شَہٰدٰتٍۭ بِاللّٰہِ ۙ اِنَّہٗ  لَمِنَ الصّٰدِقِیۡنَ ﴿۶﴾

And those who accuse their wives (of adultery) and have no witnesses except themselves, the testimony of such a person is to swear (himself) four times by Allah that he is truthful (in his accusation),.                                        *[24:7] Al-Nūr-النُّوْر*
"وَ الۡخَامِسَۃُ اَنَّ لَعۡنَتَ اللّٰہِ عَلَیۡہِ  اِنۡ کَانَ مِنَ  الۡکٰذِبِیۡنَ ﴿۷﴾

And the fifth time (to say) that Allah’s curse be upon him if he is a liar.

*[24:8] Al-Nūr-النُّوْر*
"وَ یَدۡرَؤُا  عَنۡہَا الۡعَذَابَ اَنۡ تَشۡہَدَ اَرۡبَعَ شَہٰدٰتٍۭ بِاللّٰہِ ۙ اِنَّہٗ لَمِنَ الۡکٰذِبِیۡنَ ۙ﴿۸﴾

And (similarly) this can avert punishment from that (woman too) if she     (herself) gives evidence, swearing four times by Allah that he (the husband) is a liar (in accusing her),                                                                              *[24:9] Al-Nūr-النُّوْر*
"وَ الۡخَامِسَۃَ  اَنَّ غَضَبَ اللّٰہِ عَلَیۡہَاۤ  اِنۡ  کَانَ مِنَ  الصّٰدِقِیۡنَ ﴿۹﴾

And the fifth time (to say) that Allah’s wrath be upon her if he (the husband) is truthful.

lume 6, Book 60, Number 271:

Narrated Ibn Abbas:

Hilal bin Umaiya accused his wife of committing illegal sexual intercourse with Sharik bin Sahma' and filed the case before the Prophet. The Prophet said (to Hilal), "Either you bring forth a proof (four witnesses) or you will receive the legal punishment (lashes) on your back." Hilal said, "O Allah's Apostle! If anyone of us saw a man over his wife, would he go to seek after witnesses?" The Prophet kept on saying, "Either you bring forth the witnesses or you will receive the legal punishment (lashes) on your back." Hilal then said, "By Him Who sent you with the Truth, I am telling the truth and Allah will reveal to you what will save my back from legal punishment." Then Gabriel came down and revealed to him:--

'As for those who accuse their wives...' (24.6-9) The Prophet recited it till he reached: '... (her accuser) is telling the truth.' Then the Prophet left and sent for the woman, and Hilal went (and brought) her and then took the oaths (confirming the claim). The Prophet was saying, "Allah knows that one of you is a liar, so will any of you repent?" Then the woman got up and took the oaths and when she was going to take the fifth one, the people stopped her and said, "It (the fifth oath) will definitely bring Allah's curse on you (if you are guilty)." So she hesitated and recoiled (from taking the oath) so much that we thought that she would withdraw her denial. But then she said, "I will not dishonor my family all through these days," and carried on (the process of taking oaths). The Prophet then said, "Watch her; if she delivers a black-eyed child with big hips and fat shins then it is Sharik bin Sahma's child." Later she delivered a child of that description. So the Prophet said, "If the case was not settled by Allah's Law, I would punish her severely."

Hilal bin Umaiya accused his wife of committing illegal sexual intercourse for which he lodged it to Prophet. The Holy Prophet made clear to him to either bring four witness or he receive legal punishment (lashes). Hilal retorted by saying it wouldn't be possible calling people to witness his wife fornicating. He continued by assuring Prophet that he's saying is the truth. At this instance, the verses were revealed. The woman was called and for which she denied and decided to take an oath. People tried to convince her through consequences of the oath should she take the oath.

The Prophet then said "watch her, if delivers a black-eyed child with big hip and fat shins then it is sharik bin Sahma's child. She then gave birth to the child of such description. In one narration, a lady is said to have presented herself for punishment for committing adultery. Prophet ordered her to give birth before the neccesary punishment will be applied. She then returned after giving birth. Prophet then told her to only come back when the child can eat(grown tooth). She came back with the child eating bread. Prophet then ordered hole to be dug and she be putted in. It was done for which she was stoned till death. Prophet then prayed over her corpse though earlier Umar protested.

"لَا تَحۡسَبَنَّ الَّذِیۡنَ یَفۡرَحُوۡنَ بِمَاۤ اَتَوۡا وَّ یُحِبُّوۡنَ اَنۡ یُّحۡمَدُوۡا بِمَا لَمۡ یَفۡعَلُوۡا فَلَا تَحۡسَبَنَّہُمۡ بِمَفَازَۃٍ مِّنَ الۡعَذَابِ ۚ وَ لَہُمۡ عَذَابٌ اَلِیۡمٌ ﴿۱۸۸﴾

Never regard those (as the emancipated ones) who rejoice over their crooked works and want to be praised for the deeds that they have never done. (Proclaimed for emphasis:) Never think that they are delivered from punishment; and for them is an awful torment.

Volume 6, Book 60, Number 90:

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri:

During the lifetime of Allah's Apostle, some men among the hypocrites used to remain behind him (i.e. did not accompany him) when he went out for a Ghazwa and they would be pleased to stay at home behind Allah's Apostle When Allah's Apostle returned (from the battle) they would put forward (false) excuses and take oaths, wishing to be praised for what they had not done. So there was revealed:--

"Think not that those who rejoice in what they have done, and love to be praised for what they have not done.." (3.188)

Hypocrites are not only in basic life but was present in Prophet's lifetime. Abdullah ibn Ubay happened to be renowned one. We shall discuss more about him in our subsequent lessons in Sha Allah. These hypocrites use to stay at home giving excuses weak excuses but rejoice with him when he comes. They even take oath to support their claim, it was at this instance this verse was revealed. One of these instance happened in Battle of Uhud when they betrayed Prophet and deserved before the battle. There's also a narration about a Christian who reverted to a Muslim and was assigned to writing the Quranic verses for the Holy Prophet but later renounced Islam. He later died but upon burial, the earth threw out out his corpse several times.

*Let's continue on how this verse was revealed*👇.                                      [3:77] Āl ‘Imrān-آل عِمْرَان
"اِنَّ الَّذِیۡنَ یَشۡتَرُوۡنَ بِعَہۡدِ اللّٰہِ وَ اَیۡمَانِہِمۡ ثَمَنًا قَلِیۡلًا  اُولٰٓئِکَ لَا خَلَاقَ لَہُمۡ فِی الۡاٰخِرَۃِ وَ لَا یُکَلِّمُہُمُ اللّٰہُ وَ لَا یَنۡظُرُ اِلَیۡہِمۡ یَوۡمَ الۡقِیٰمَۃِ وَ لَا یُزَکِّیۡہِمۡ ۪ وَ لَہُمۡ عَذَابٌ اَلِیۡمٌ ﴿۷۷﴾

Certainly, those who sell the promise of Allah and their own oaths for a small price, it is they who will not have any share in the Hereafter. And on the Day of Resurrection Allah will neither speak to nor look at them, nor will He purify them, and for them will be painful torment.

Volume 6, Book 60, Number 73:

Narrated 'Abdullah bin Abu Aufa:

A man displayed some merchandise in the market and took an oath that he had been offered a certain price for it while in fact he had not, in order to cheat a man from the Muslims. So then was revealed:--"Verily! Those who purchase a small gain at the cost of Allah's Covenant and their oaths..."(3.77)
