The importance of istighfar.

Alhamdulillah,

A man came to Hasan basri rahimullaah saying,

In our land I am, there is scarcity of rainfall so what should?

Imam Hasan basri rahimullah said to him,

Go and make istighfar.

Another came to imam basri r.a complaining not able to give birth, imam basri r.a said to him,

Go and make istighfar.

Another came saying I have difficulties in my life.

Imam Basri rahimullah said to him,

Go and make istighfar

So his student who were with him asked,

O Imam! The first one came and you said make istighfar and the second and third, what is the secret.

So imam recited ayah of surah Nuh saying,

Nuh 71:10

فَقُلۡتُ ٱسۡتَغۡفِرُواْ رَبَّكُمۡ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّارࣰا

And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver.

Nuh 71:11

يُرۡسِلِ ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيۡكُم مِّدۡرَارࣰا

He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers

Nuh 71:12

وَيُمۡدِدۡكُم بِأَمۡوَٰلࣲ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجۡعَل لَّكُمۡ جَنَّٰتࣲ وَيَجۡعَل لَّكُمۡ أَنۡهَٰرࣰا

And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers..

The secret of every sorrow in life we face,the remedy is istighfar.

Saying, subhanallah,Alhamdulillah,Allahu Akbar astaghfirullaahu wa atoobu ilayka.
