"وَ ہِیَ تَجۡرِیۡ بِہِمۡ فِیۡ مَوۡجٍ کَالۡجِبَالِ ۟  وَ نَادٰی نُوۡحُۨ  ابۡنَہٗ وَ کَانَ فِیۡ  مَعۡزِلٍ یّٰـبُنَیَّ ارۡکَبۡ مَّعَنَا وَ لَا تَکُنۡ مَّعَ الۡکٰفِرِیۡنَ ﴿۴۲﴾

And the Ark kept sailing, carrying them through (violent) waves towering like mountains. Then Nuh (Noah) called out to his son, who had separated from him (and was standing with the disbelievers): ‘O my son, get aboard with us and do not stay with the disbelievers.’

[11:43] Hūd-هُوْد
"قَالَ سَاٰوِیۡۤ  اِلٰی جَبَلٍ یَّعۡصِمُنِیۡ  مِنَ الۡمَآءِ ؕ قَالَ لَا عَاصِمَ  الۡیَوۡمَ  مِنۡ  اَمۡرِ اللّٰہِ  اِلَّا مَنۡ رَّحِمَ ۚ وَ حَالَ بَیۡنَہُمَا الۡمَوۡجُ  فَکَانَ  مِنَ  الۡمُغۡرَقِیۡنَ  ﴿۴۳﴾

He said: ‘(Instead of embarking on the Ark) I shall just now take shelter on some mountain. That will save me from the Deluge.’ Nuh (Noah) said: ‘None can save today from Allah’s punishment except someone to whom He (Allah) shows His mercy.’ In the meanwhile, a (violent) wave came between both (father and son). So he was one of the drowned.

[11:44] Hūd-هُوْد
"وَ قِیۡلَ یٰۤاَرۡضُ ابۡلَعِیۡ مَآءَکِ وَ یٰسَمَآءُ اَقۡلِعِیۡ وَ غِیۡضَ الۡمَآءُ وَ قُضِیَ الۡاَمۡرُ وَ اسۡتَوَتۡ عَلَی الۡجُوۡدِیِّ  وَ قِیۡلَ بُعۡدًا لِّلۡقَوۡمِ  الظّٰلِمِیۡنَ ﴿۴۴﴾

(And when all were drowned and annihilated except Nuh’s [Noah’s] Ark) it was commanded: ‘O earth, swallow up your water and, O sky, cease pouring.’ And the water was dried and the command was executed and the Ark came to rest on Mount al-Judi and it was said: ‘Far away are the unjust (from mercy)!’

[11:45] Hūd-هُوْد
"وَ نَادٰی نُوۡحٌ رَّبَّہٗ  فَقَالَ رَبِّ اِنَّ ابۡنِیۡ مِنۡ اَہۡلِیۡ وَ اِنَّ وَعۡدَکَ الۡحَقُّ وَ اَنۡتَ اَحۡکَمُ  الۡحٰکِمِیۡنَ ﴿۴۵﴾

And Nuh (Noah) called out to his Lord and submitted: ‘O my Lord, indeed my son (too) was a part of my family, and certainly Your promise is true, and You are the Greatest of all rulers.’.                                           [11:46] Hūd-هُوْد
"قَالَ یٰنُوۡحُ  اِنَّہٗ  لَیۡسَ مِنۡ اَہۡلِکَ ۚ اِنَّہٗ عَمَلٌ غَیۡرُ صَالِحٍ ٭۫ۖ  فَلَا تَسۡـَٔلۡنِ مَا لَـیۡسَ لَکَ بِہٖ عِلۡمٌ ؕ اِنِّیۡۤ  اَعِظُکَ اَنۡ تَکُوۡنَ  مِنَ  الۡجٰہِلِیۡنَ ﴿۴۶﴾

(Allah) said: ‘O Nuh (Noah), indeed he is not included in your family because his actions were not righteous. So do not ask Me a question (about matters) of which you have no knowledge. I admonish you lest you should become amongst the unwise.’

[11:47] Hūd-هُوْد
"قَالَ رَبِّ اِنِّیۡۤ  اَعُوۡذُ بِکَ اَنۡ اَسۡـَٔلَکَ مَا لَـیۡسَ لِیۡ بِہٖ عِلۡمٌ ؕ وَ اِلَّا تَغۡفِرۡ لِیۡ وَ تَرۡحَمۡنِیۡۤ   اَکُنۡ  مِّنَ  الۡخٰسِرِیۡنَ ﴿۴۷﴾

Nuh (Noah) submitted: ‘O my Lord, I seek refuge with You from asking You that of which I have no knowledge. And if You forgive me not and bestow (not) mercy on me, (then) I shall be of the losers.’

Noah's wife was not a believer with him, so she did not join him; neither did one of Noah's sons, who was secretly a disbeliever but had pretended faith in front of Noah. Likewise most of the people were disbelievers and did not go on board. The scholars (Ulama) hold different opinions on the number of those who were with Noah on the ship. Ibn Abbas stated that ther were eighty believers, while Ka'ab Al-Ahbar held that there were seventy-two. Others claimed that there were ten believers with Noah.

Water rose from the cracks in the earth; there was not a crack from which water did not rise. Rain poured from the sky in quantities never seen before on the earth. Water continued pouring from the sky and rising from the cracks; hour after hour the level rose. The seas and waves invaded the land. The interior of the earth moved in a strange way, and the ocean floors lifted suddenly, flooding the dry land. The earth, for the first time, was submerged.     When Noah called his son to boad the ship he replied: "I will betake myself to a mountain, it will save me from the water." Noah said: "This day there is no savior from the Decree of Allah except him on whom He has mercy."

And a wave came in between them, so he (the son) was among the drowned. And Noah called upon his Lord and said, "0 my Lord! Verily, my son is of my family! And certainly, Your Promise is true, and You are the Most Just of the judges." He said: "0 Noah! Surely, he is not of your family; verily, his work is unrighteous, so ask not of Me that of which you have no knowledge! I admonish you, lest you be one of the ignorants." Noah then asked for forgiveness for which Allah forgave him. With the issue of the divine command, calm returned to earth, the water retreated, and the dry land shone once again in the rays of the sun. The flood had cleansed the earth of the disbelievers and polytheists.

[6:112] Al-An‘ām-الْأَنْعَام
"وَ کَذٰلِکَ جَعَلۡنَا لِکُلِّ نَبِیٍّ عَدُوًّا شَیٰطِیۡنَ الۡاِنۡسِ وَ  الۡجِنِّ  یُوۡحِیۡ بَعۡضُہُمۡ اِلٰی بَعۡضٍ زُخۡرُفَ الۡقَوۡلِ غُرُوۡرًا ؕ وَ لَوۡ شَآءَ رَبُّکَ مَا فَعَلُوۡہُ فَذَرۡہُمۡ وَ مَا یَفۡتَرُوۡنَ ﴿۱۱۲﴾

And the same way We made for every Prophet enemies—the satans from amongst men and jinn—who always pour into one another’s hearts (flattery and) gilded talk (as suspicions) in order to deceive. *And if your Lord had willed (to prevent them forcefully), they would not have done so. So leave them and (also) the falsehood which they fabricate*.

Difference between 'God's will' and 'God's good pleasure'*
▪ The failure to differentiate between the two often gives rise to serious misconceptions.
If a certain thing takes place in accord with the universal will of God, and thus by His sanction, that does not necessarily mean that God is pleased with it.
▪ Nothing at all takes place in the world unless God permits it to take place, and unless He makes it possible for that event to take place by creating its necessary conditions.
