A LEGACY THAT DEATH CANNOT ERASE

For years, Brother Jamil had a secret sanctuary: the cold tiles beneath his feet in the stillness of the night. While the world slept, he would rise for Tahajjud, stand before his Lord, and pour out his heart in sincere supplication.

Among the prayers he cherished most was the supplication of Prophet Ibrahim (عليه السلام):

“My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [many] from my descendants.”

📚 Qur'an 14:40

Jamil longed to leave his wife and two children with something more valuable than wealth or property. He wanted to leave them a living legacy of faith, a connection with Allah that would remain firm long after he was gone.

One night, as he watched his family sleeping peacefully, a profound thought crossed his mind: My entire life is a journey towards the Hereafter. I must prepare for that journey. But what about the people Allah has entrusted to my care? Am I preparing only for myself while neglecting their spiritual future?

That thought changed his approach to worship.

Jamil realised that his responsibility was not merely to practise righteousness himself, but also to encourage his family towards goodness with wisdom, patience, and love.

He began by gently waking his wife and children for Tahajjud. At first, it was difficult. Sleep was sweet, the nights were long, and rising from a comfortable bed required genuine determination.

But Jamil remained patient. Gradually, the family began to appreciate those precious moments of standing before Allah while the rest of the world slept.

He watched his wife develop a deeper sense of peace and witnessed his children grow in their love for worship. Their shared moments of night prayer became a beautiful bond, strengthening their faith and reminding them that no matter what challenges the world presented, they could always turn to their Lord.

Years later, Jamil's journey in this world came to an end.

His death left a painful silence in the home. His wife mourned the man who had shared her life, while his children struggled to understand the permanence of their father's absence.

But on the first night after his burial, something beautiful happened.

His wife awoke and noticed the empty space beside her. Remembering the nights they had spent worshipping Allah together, she made her way to the prayer room.

There, she found her two young sons, Adam and Abdallah, both under thirteen, preparing to stand in prayer. Three prayer mats lay on the floor, a reminder of the family tradition their father had nurtured.

Tears filled her eyes. She quietly joined her children, and together they stood before Allah.

Jamil was no longer physically present, but the lessons he had taught his family were still alive.

Whenever his children practised the goodness he had taught them, they had the opportunity to earn their own rewards, and Jamil could hope for a share in the reward of guiding them towards righteousness. What a beautiful legacy to leave behind!

The lesson is profound: A believer's influence does not have to end when their life ends.

MAJOR LESSON

The most valuable legacy a believer can leave is not necessarily material wealth, but a family nurtured upon faith, righteousness, and remembrance of Allah.

Teach your children to pray. Encourage your spouse towards goodness. Remind your siblings of Allah with kindness. Do not merely wish for a righteous family; take practical steps to help build one.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

“Whoever guides someone to goodness will have a reward like the one who does it.”

📚 Sahih Muslim, 1893

Start tonight. Pray your Tahajjud, and when appropriate, gently encourage someone you love to join you. Be patient with those who find it difficult, and never turn an act of worship into a source of resentment or hardship.

Remember, the goal is not simply to wake people up in the night; it is to help their hearts awaken to Allah.

May Allah make us a source of guidance for our families, accept our acts of worship, and grant us righteous descendants who remember Him long after we have returned to Him. Aameen.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

ARE YOU PACKING FOR YOUR FINAL JOURNEY?

Anyone who has travelled a long distance knows that preparation is essential. Before leaving home, a traveller packs necessary belongings, arranges transportation, secures the house, and makes provisions for the family members who will remain behind.

A wise traveller does not focus only on reaching the destination; he also considers what he must put in order before leaving.

This worldly example offers a powerful reminder for every believer.

Our ultimate journey is towards the Hereafter, and its departure point is death. Unlike an ordinary journey, however, we do not know its appointed date, and there is no return to this worldly life once our time has ended.

The question, therefore, is not whether we will leave this world, but whether we are preparing adequately for the life to come.

My dear brothers and sisters in Islam,

Among the beautiful acts of worship that a believer can cultivate is Tahajjud, the voluntary night prayer performed after the obligatory 'Isha prayer and before Fajr, commonly associated with rising after sleep.

It is an opportunity to withdraw from worldly distractions, stand humbly before Allah, seek His forgiveness, and pour out one's worries and hopes in sincere supplication.

Allah describes the righteous as those who leave their beds to call upon Him in hope and fear.

📚 Qur'an 32:16

Imagine the sweetness of standing before your Creator while others are asleep, seeking His mercy, asking Him to forgive your shortcomings, and praying for guidance for yourself and your loved ones.

These moments are among the precious provisions a believer can gather for the Hereafter.

But here is another question worth considering:

What if the goodness you practise today becomes a source of benefit to others tomorrow, even after you have departed this world?

A thoughtful believer understands that responsibility extends beyond personal worship. We should strive to encourage our families towards righteousness, not only through our words but also through our example.

When you teach your child how to pray, encourage your spouse to remember Allah, or gently inspire your siblings to perform Tahajjud, you are helping to establish a tradition of worship that may continue for generations.

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

“Whoever guides someone to goodness will have a reward like the one who does it.”

📚 Sahih Muslim, 1893

Reflect upon the meaning of this Hadith.

You may teach your son to pray, and years later, he may teach his own children. You may encourage your daughter to remember Allah, and she may become a source of guidance to her own family. You may inspire a friend to perform a good deed, and that friend may encourage many others.

By Allah's permission, your sincere efforts may produce goodness far beyond what you can see or imagine.

This is the beauty of a righteous legacy.

However, remember that every person remains responsible for their own deeds, and the reward for any particular action ultimately belongs to Allah to determine. Our responsibility is to guide others sincerely and hope for His acceptance.

The Prophet (ﷺ) also taught that when a person dies, their deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who supplicates for them.

📚 Sahih Muslim, 1631

What a powerful reminder! Death may end our opportunity to perform new deeds in this world, but the benefits of certain righteous efforts can continue beyond our lifetime.

SERVANTS OF ALLAH!

Do not be so occupied with preparing for your own Hereafter that you forget the people Allah has placed under your care.

And do not assume that providing your family with money, property, education, and worldly comfort is the full extent of your responsibility.

Teach them about Allah. Help them establish their prayers. Encourage them to seek forgiveness, give charity, speak truthfully, and treat people with kindness.

Most importantly, lead by example. It is difficult to inspire others towards a practice that we ourselves consistently neglect.

Let your home be a place where Allah is remembered, where prayer is valued, and where goodness is encouraged with wisdom and compassion.

One day, you will leave behind your possessions, your position, and everything you worked so hard to accumulate. What will remain of the goodness you planted in the hearts of others?

PACK YOUR BELONGINGS FOR THE AKHIRAH.

Prepare through sincere worship, righteous deeds, beneficial knowledge, and good character. While you are still alive, invest in the spiritual well-being of your family.

Perhaps the child you teach today will become the righteous adult who remembers you in Du'a tomorrow. Perhaps the knowledge you share will benefit someone for years to come. Perhaps a single sincere reminder will inspire a chain of good deeds you never live to witness.

We cannot guarantee the outcome, but we can strive sincerely and place our hopes in the mercy of Allah.

May Allah grant us the wisdom to prepare for our final journey, bless our families with steadfast faith, make our efforts a source of lasting benefit, and grant us a beautiful ending.

May He forgive our shortcomings, accept our righteous deeds, and reunite us with our loved ones in Jannatul Firdaus.

Aameen, Ya Rabbal-'Aalameen.

HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN

NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Arba'a. 29th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Wednesday 8th May 2024). *_NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH_*. BismilLah.  Even though feelings of Panic, stress/worries etc are part of life, they must not reduce our acts of worship or trust in ALLAH. The more a man turns to ALLAH and focuses on HIM, the more he will feel a sense of peace and comfort, to an extent that no one knows except ALLAH. Hence those who know ALLAH, are close to HIM and fear HIM are the happiest of people, to such an extent that one of them said, in a well-known expression: “If the kings and the sons of kings knew what joy we have, they would fight us for it with the sword.” This is also what is expressed in the Qur’an, as ALLAH says: “Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him ALLAH will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and ALLAH will ...

BEST TIME FOR TAHAJJUD

*BEST TIME FOR TAHAJJUD* It is best to delay this prayer to the last third portion of the night. Abu Hurairah reports that the Messenger of Allah said: "Our Lord descends to the lowest heaven during the last third of the night, inquiring: 'Who will call on Me so that I may respond to him? Who is asking something of Me so I may give it to him? Who is asking for My forgiveness so I may forgive him?"' This is related by the group. 'Amr ibn Abasah reports that he heard the Prophet say: "The closest that a slave comes to his Lord is during the middle of the latter portion of the night. If you can be among those who remember Allah, the Exalted One, at that time then do so." This is related by al-Hakim who grades it sahih according to Muslim's standards, and at-Tirmizhi calls it hasan sahih. AnNasa'i and Ibn Khuzaimah also recorded it. Abu Muslim asked Abu Zharr: "Which late-night prayer is the best?" He said: "I asked the Messenger of A...
