DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER
Yaum al-Ithnayn | 1st of Jumādā al-Ūlā, 1448 AH | Monday, 12 October 2026
LET US CONTROL OUR TONGUES BEFORE THEY DESTROY US AND OUR FAMILIES.
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Sometimes, the greatest enemy of peace in our homes is not poverty, but the words that come out of our mouths.
A careless tongue can destroy a marriage, break a child's heart, separate brothers and sisters, and turn a peaceful home into a place of pain and sorrow.
Dear brothers and sisters, before you insult your spouse, remember that ALLĀH ‘Azza wa Jall is listening. Before you humiliate your child, remember that your words may remain in their heart long after you have forgotten them. Before you expose your family's weaknesses, remember that not every provocation deserves a response, and not every argument needs to be won.
ALLĀH ‘Azza wa Jall says:
“And speak to people good [words].”
📖 Qur’ān 2:83
Our beloved Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ) said:
“Whoever believes in Allāh and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent.”
📚 Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 6018; Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 47.
To all husbands and wives, do not allow anger to make you utter words that destroy the love you have spent years building.
Parents, do not use your tongues to curse, insult, or constantly condemn your children. Correct them with wisdom, discipline them with fairness, and guide them with mercy.
Children, speak to your parents with respect, even when you disagree with them. Disagreement should never become an excuse for disrespect.
Remember: You can apologise for your words, but you may not be able to erase the pain they have caused.
Before you speak, ask yourself:
- Will these words please Allāh?
- Will they bring peace or create another wound?
- Would I be comfortable answering to Allāh for these words on the Day of Judgement?
Let our homes be places of mercy, not insults; understanding, not humiliation; and love, not verbal destruction.
This reminder is first for myself and then for you who are reading it.
May Allāh ‘Azza wa Jall purify our hearts, guard our tongues, protect our marriages, unite our families, and make us among those who speak goodness or remain silent.
Āmīn, Yā Rabb al-‘Ālamīn.
