🌙 FIGHTING THE FIGHT: THE BEAUTY OF TAHAJJUD 🌙
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Every single night, an incredible opportunity awaits you!
While the world sleeps, Allah has granted His servants a special time to call upon Him, seek His forgiveness, ask for their needs, and draw closer to Him through voluntary night prayers.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Our Lord, Blessed and Exalted is He, descends every night to the lowest heaven when the last third of the night remains and says: ‘Who is calling upon Me, so that I may answer him? Who is asking Me, so that I may give him? Who is seeking My forgiveness, so that I may forgive him?’”
📚 Sahih al-Bukhari 1145; Sahih Muslim 758.
Pause and reflect!
The last third of the night is not merely a time to sleep. It is an opportunity to stand before your Lord, pour out your worries, confess your shortcomings, and ask Him for whatever goodness you need in this life and the Hereafter.
Yet, what do many of us do?
We remain comfortably in bed while missing an opportunity for voluntary worship and intimate conversation with our Creator.
Of course, sleep is necessary, and Islam does not require us to neglect our health. But imagine what we could gain by sacrificing just a few minutes of sleep to pray and make sincere du‘ā'!
Allah ﷻ describes the righteous believers in the Qur'an:
“They arise from [their] beds; they supplicate their Lord in fear and aspiration, and from what We have provided them, they spend.”
📖 Surah As-Sajdah 32:16.
These are people who leave the comfort of their beds to worship Allah, hoping for His mercy and fearing His displeasure.
🌿 THE REAL FIGHT
Tahajjud is a struggle against the comfort of your bed, the heaviness of your eyes, and the distractions that prevent you from making time for Allah.
Shayṭān may whisper, “Sleep a little longer. You can pray tomorrow.”
But remember that tomorrow is not guaranteed.
Do not wait until your problems become unbearable before you turn to Allah. Make night prayer a means of drawing closer to Him in times of ease and hardship.
🌙 CONSISTENCY MATTERS
You do not have to begin with eight rak‘ahs. Start with what you can maintain.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“The most beloved deeds to Allah are those that are most consistent, even if they are few.”
📚 Sahih al-Bukhari 6464; Sahih Muslim 783.
If you can pray two rak‘ahs sincerely, begin with two. If you are able to do more, do more according to your ability.
If you miss a night, do not despair or abandon the practice. Return to it when you can.
Remember, Tahajjud is voluntary worship, and Allah knows your circumstances, your struggles, and the sincerity of your heart.
🤲 IMAGINE STANDING BEFORE ALLAH IN THE QUIETNESS OF THE NIGHT.
No audience. No public recognition. No need to impress anyone.
Just you, your Lord, your tears, your hopes, and your supplications.
You might say:
“Ya Allah, I am weak, and You are the Most Powerful. I am in need, and You are the Self-Sufficient. Forgive my sins, relieve my difficulties, guide my heart, bless my family, and grant me goodness in this world and the Hereafter.”
What a beautiful opportunity to seek His mercy!
🌟 MAKE A COMMITMENT TONIGHT
✅ Try to wake up before Fajr, even if only for a short while.
✅ Pray two rak‘ahs if you are able.
✅ Make sincere du‘ā' for yourself, your parents, your family, and the entire Ummah.
✅ Seek Allah's forgiveness and ask Him to keep your heart firm upon His religion.
✅ Remain consistent according to your ability, without neglecting your health or obligatory duties.
Remember: You do not need to be perfect before you stand before Allah. You need to keep turning back to Him in repentance, hope, and sincerity.
May Allah ﷻ make us among those who remember Him during the night and at the ends of the day, accept our prayers, forgive our sins, answer our lawful supplications, and grant us a beautiful ending.
