▪️ We often find that Islamic audio recordings for children have a great influence on them. They can help children memorise the Qur’ān by listening to the recitation of young readers, learn Duʿās to be recited at different times of the day and night, understand Islamic manners and etiquette, and benefit from nasheeds with good and beneficial messages.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
▪️ Keeping such recordings in an organised manner makes them easier to find and also protects them from being damaged or played with by young children.
We should also share beneficial recordings with others by giving or lending them after listening to them.
Having a recorder or suitable audio device in the kitchen can be useful for the lady of the house, while having one in the bedroom can help a person make beneficial use of time until the end of the day.

▫️ Inviting righteous people and seekers of knowledge to visit the home.
Allāh ﷻ says:
{My Lord! Forgive me, and my parents, and him who enters my home as a believer, and all the believing men and women…}
[Qur’ān 71:28]
When people of faith enter your home, it can increase it in light (Nūr) and bring many benefits through their conversations, reminders and discussions.
The Prophet ﷺ gave the beautiful example of good and bad companionship by comparing a righteous companion to a carrier of musk: you may receive some of his pleasant fragrance, purchase some from him, or at the very least enjoy his pleasant scent.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
When children, brothers and parents sit with such visitors, and women listen from behind a curtain or screen, it can provide a valuable educational experience for everyone.
When you welcome righteous people into your home, you also help protect the home from becoming a place where harmful or corrupt influences are welcomed.

▫️ Creating opportunities for family meetings to discuss important matters.
Allāh ﷻ says:
{…and whose affair is [determined by] consultation among themselves…}
[Qur’ān 42:38]

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
This is an opportunity for family members to sit together in a suitable place and discuss matters affecting the family, whether they concern issues within the home or matters outside the home.
Such meetings are a sign of strong family ties, interaction and cooperation.
Undoubtedly, the man has been entrusted by Allāh ﷻ with responsibility for his household and is accountable for those under his care. However, allowing other family members to contribute—especially as the children grow older—is beneficial.
It teaches children how to take responsibility and gives every family member the confidence that his or her opinion is valued when they are invited to express it.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Examples include discussions about going for Hajj or ʿUmrah, travelling to visit relatives and maintain family ties, planning holidays or other trips, organising wedding celebrations and ʿAqīqahs for newborns, moving from one home to another, and charitable projects.
For example, the family may discuss identifying poor and needy people in the neighbourhood so that they can offer assistance or provide food for them.
Families can also discuss problems faced by themselves or their relatives and consider how those problems can be resolved.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
It is also worth pointing out another important type of family meeting: frank and private discussions between parents and their children.
Some problems of adolescence can only be properly addressed through sincere, one-on-one conversations between parents and children.
A father can calmly and privately speak with his son about the challenges of youth and the Islamic rulings relating to adolescence. Likewise, a mother can speak with her daughter about the Islamic guidance she needs and help her deal with the challenges she may face at that stage of life.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
A father or mother may begin such a conversation with words such as:
“When I was your age…”
This can have a powerful effect in making the parent's advice easier for the young person to accept.
When children do not find a safe and trustworthy environment at home where they can ask questions and discuss their concerns, they may turn to bad companions for answers, which can lead to many other evils.
Therefore, parents should strive to be approachable, understanding and trustworthy sources of guidance for their children.

▫️ Not displaying family conflicts in front of the children.
It is rare for people to live together under one roof without ever having disagreements. However, reconciliation is better, and correcting oneself is a virtue.
What can seriously weaken family unity is bringing conflicts openly before the children and other members of the household, causing them to take sides and divide into opposing camps.
This can also cause significant emotional and psychological harm to children, particularly young ones.

Imagine a home where the father tells a child:
“Do not speak to your mother,”
while the mother tells the child:
“Do not speak to your father.”
The child becomes confused, distressed and caught in the middle, while the entire family begins to live in an atmosphere of hostility.
We should strive to avoid unnecessary conflict. But when disagreements do occur, we should endeavour to resolve them wisely and, as much as possible, shield the children from the details and consequences of adult disputes.
May Allāh ﷻ create love, mercy and understanding between our hearts and preserve the unity of our families.
