FAJR REMINDER: WHEN ALLĀH IS WITH YOU (III)

Yaumul Aḥad | 7th day of Jumādā al-Ūlā, 1448 AH | Sunday, 18th October 2026
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
NEVER DESPAIR, FOR NO POWER CAN OVERRIDE THE WILL OF ALLĀH.
Alhamdulillaah! All praise belongs to ALLĀH, the Most Powerful, the All-Wise, whose Authority encompasses the heavens and the earth.
In our previous reflections, we considered how ALLĀH demonstrated His Supreme Power through the people of the elephant, Ṭālūt and his believing followers, Prophet Mūsā (عليه السلام), and the Muslims at Badr.
These remarkable accounts teach us that no enemy, regardless of strength, numbers, wealth, or worldly resources, can escape the Authority of ALLĀH.
But what lessons should we, as Muslims, draw from these events when facing powerful adversaries, overwhelming challenges, and situations that appear impossible?
Let us reflect on the following lessons of Eemān, Tawakkul, patience, obedience, and steadfastness.
🔹 1. NEVER MEASURE ALLĀH'S POWER BY THE STRENGTH OF YOUR ENEMY.
The elephants of Abraha, the army of Jālūt, the forces of Fir‘awn, and the Quraysh at Badr all experienced the limits of worldly power before the Decree of ALLĀH.
Never assume that someone is invincible simply because they possess wealth, influence, authority, or superior resources.
Remember: worldly strength is not absolute, and no one can escape the ultimate Judgment of ALLĀH.
🔹 2. TRUE TAWAKKUL REQUIRES FAITH, PATIENCE, AND OBEDIENCE.
The followers of Ṭālūt were tested before confronting their enemy. Their story teaches us the importance of discipline, patience, and obedience to ALLĀH.
A Muslim should not deliberately neglect the commands of ALLĀH and then assume that merely saying “I trust ALLĀH” guarantees a particular outcome.
True Tawakkul means trusting ALLĀH while striving to obey Him and remaining steadfast through trials.
🔹 3. TAKE THE NECESSARY MEANS WHILE RELYING UPON ALLĀH.
Tawakkul does not mean laziness, recklessness, or refusing to plan.
Take lawful and responsible steps, seek beneficial knowledge, consult trustworthy people, prepare adequately, and protect yourself and those who depend on you.
Then place your trust in ALLĀH, knowing that the final outcome rests with Him.
🔹 4. NEVER ALLOW FEAR TO DESTROY YOUR HOPE IN ALLĀH.
Your adversary may possess wealth, influence, weapons, or political power. These advantages should not be ignored, and genuine dangers must be approached wisely.
However, never allow the apparent strength of another person to make you despair of ALLĀH's Mercy.
The believer recognises the reality of hardship without surrendering to hopelessness.
🔹 5. UNDERSTAND THAT VICTORY DOES NOT ALWAYS COME IN THE FORM YOU EXPECT.
Sometimes, relief comes quickly. At other times, a believer must endure a prolonged trial.
ALLĀH may grant worldly victory, protect someone from a particular harm, expose injustice, or reward steadfastness in the Hereafter.
We must never assume that every defeat means a lack of faith or that every righteous person will be spared suffering.
Our certainty lies in the perfect Justice, Wisdom, and Mercy of ALLĀH, not in the assumption that everything will happen according to our preferred timetable.
🔺 DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN ISLĀM,
When your enemy appears stronger, remember the people of the elephant.
When the forces against you seem overwhelming, remember the words of the believers who stood with Ṭālūt:
“How often a small group overcame a mighty host by ALLĀH's Leave.”
📖 Sūrah al-Baqarah (2:249)
When you feel cornered and cannot see a way forward, remember the words of Prophet Mūsā (عليه السلام):
“Nay, verily! With me is my Lord; He will guide me.”
📖 Sūrah ash-Shu‘arā’ (26:62)
When your resources seem insufficient for the challenges ahead, remember the Battle of Badr, when ALLĀH granted assistance to the believers.
Do not be deceived by appearances. Do not assume that an oppressor's temporary success means that they are beyond accountability.
Instead, strengthen your Eemān, fulfil your obligations, seek forgiveness, make abundant Du‘aa, stand firmly upon the truth, and take lawful measures to protect yourself and others.
Above all, remember that trusting ALLĀH does not mean demanding a particular outcome from Him. It means obeying Him, relying upon Him, and remaining faithful whether relief comes quickly or after a prolonged period of testing.
ALLĀH Subḥānahu wa Ta‘ālā says:
“And whoever puts their trust in ALLĀH, then He will suffice them. Indeed, ALLĀH will accomplish His purpose. ALLĀH has already set a measure for all things.”
📖 Sūrah aṭ-Ṭalāq (65:3)
A FINAL REMINDER TO OURSELVES:
You may not understand why a particular trial has come your way. You may not know when relief will arrive. You may even feel overwhelmed by circumstances beyond your control.
Nevertheless, never allow hardship to convince you that ALLĀH has lost control of your affairs.
Keep making Du‘aa. Keep doing what is right. Keep seeking His forgiveness. Keep taking the necessary lawful steps, and never despair of His Mercy.
May ALLĀH make us among those who sincerely trust Him, remain steadfast during trials, act wisely in the face of adversity, and never lose hope in His Mercy.
May He protect the oppressed, restrain aggressors, relieve the distressed, grant victory to the truth, and guide us towards everything that pleases Him.
Āmīn Yā Rabbal-‘Ālamīn.
وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ
And ALLĀH knows best.
