*FULFILLING MARRIAGE PROMISES*
Those of us who take promises for granted especially pre-marriage promises. The brother would say, I promise to teach you Al-Qur-ān after our marriage, I promise to sponsor you to further your education, I promise not to marry second wife, I promise to always give you delicious food & expensive clothes, I promise to buy new car for you, I promise to give you a separate house from my parents', I promise you this or that. Soon after marriage, he closes his eyes and forgets everything he had said. Well, listen to this brother, by Allāh, if she does not forgive you, Allāh will question you in the day of judgement and you will be treated as a Munafiq (hypocrite). Because Abu-Huraira reported that 3 signs are of a hypocrite, one of them, he who does not fulfil promise when he made one. [Book 1, Hadith 199]. Fear Allāh and fulfil your promise. It is not too late to say sorry, and repent. Many women are dying inside because they were fooled and ruined by such promises. May Allah protect us from mischief. Ameen
