*Part 159*
*THE LESSER PILGRIMAGE ('UMRAH) OF AL-HUDAIBIYYA IN DHUL-QA'ADAH, 6 A.H.*
THE CAUSE
As conditions developed considerably to Muslims' benefits, the precursors of the greatest conquest (of Mecca) and the success of the calling of Islam began to emerge gradually and the preliminary steps towards acknowledging Muslims' right to observing their acts of worship in the Holy Masjid (mosque) were taken. The Prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) had a dream that he and his followers entered the Holy Masjid, took charge of the key of the Ka'abah, circumambulated it, performed 'Umrah and shaved their heads. When the Prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) informed his Companions of that, they became very glad and realised that they would enter Mecca in the same year. Afterwards, the Prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) told them that he decided to perform 'Umrah and ordered them to prepare themselves for the journey.
MOBILISING MUSLIMS
The Prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) called up Arabs and desert nomads around him to set out with him. A lot of Arab nomads lagged behind. The Prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) had his clothes washed and rode his she-camel Al-Qaswa and put Ibn Umm Makhtoum in charge of Madīnah. The Prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) went off to Mecca on Monday, 1st Dhul-Qa'adah, 6 A.H. leading about one thousand five hundred Muslims and taking his wife Umm Salamah with him. They carried no arms but what they needed to protect themselves during their journey (i.e their swords were sheathed).
*{To be continued In-sha-Allāh (If Allāh Wills)...}*
*"And keep reminding, because reminding benefits the believers."* (Qur-ān 51:55)
