*Thinking of Today*
------------------بسم الله الرحمان الرجيم
A very wise man, Hassan al-Basri, once said:
Life is only three days.
Yesterday is gone forever. You cannot change it.
Tomorrow you may never see. It is not promised to you.
Today is all you have. This is your chance to do lots of good deeds.
So, what will you do with your today?
My People,
Your greatest enemy is not outside of you. It is inside. Yes. And it is your sins.
Sin is like a poison for your heart. Your heart is the engine of your body. If the engine is damaged, the whole body stops working.
In fact,
If you have ever wanted or tried to be giving sadaqah FREQUENTLY or pray at midnight CONSISTENTLY, but you just cannot Or you start your prayer, but your mind is COMPLETELY everywhere else?, then, there's a problem somewhere. Yes. This why, a man asked Ibn Mas'ud a question: "I cannot pray at night." Ibn Mas'ud gave a simple, frightening answer: *"Your sins have prevented you."*
My People,
Your sins make your heart weak and sick. They slowly damage it until it becomes hard and dark. It becomes a dead heart. A dead heart cannot feel the love of Allah (swt). Yes. It cannot find peace in prayer or in doing any act of ibadah.
For example:
If you start a good habit like reading Quran, but then you find it very difficult to continue... stop and check yourself. There is likely a sin you are doing that is breaking your connection with Allah (swt).
*Think of sin like a thief:*
A thief does not start by robbing a bank. He starts small—maybe by taking something from a friend. If no one stops him, he becomes bolder. He steals from a shop. Then from a bank.
Sins are the same. Yes. The first time you tell a lie or you backbite, your heart feels bad. You feel guilty. You might ask Allah (swt) for forgiveness.
But if you keep doing it, the feeling of guilt becomes less and less. Soon, you do not feel bad at all.
Then, you start to make excuses for your sin. You think, "It's not a big deal," or "Everyone does it." You no longer see the need to ask for forgiveness.
Muslim Faithful,
Your today is a gift. Do not waste it on sins that will destroy your heart and your chance for Paradise.
