Preparation towards THE month of Ramadhan.
Alhamdulillah, Ramadhan is the great month in Islam.
It is the month of Al Quran.
Allah says,
Al-Baqarah 2:185
The month of Ramaḍān [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’ān, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the crescent of] the month,[1] let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other days. Allāh intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allāh for that [to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful.
The word Ramadhan came from Ramadi meaning heat or intense.
Due to the intense weather during this time, the Arabs used to name the month Ramadhan.
It is the month of Al Quran which was sent as a guidance to the whole of humanity.
And it is obligatory upon every Muslim at home to fast during this month when the moon of Ramadan is sighted
Allah says,
Whosoever sight the moon should fast..
Those exempted from fasting.
The sick, the traveller, the underage, the pregnant woman if she fasts will affect your child, the woman in her menses, the lactating mother if she will not get breast milk to breastfeed her child.
Before the fasting of Ramadhan was made obligatory, the fasting of Muharram was made obligatory and when Ramadhan was legislated, that of Muharram became Sunnah and Ramadhan became obligatory.
As reported in Hadith,
Narrated `Aisha:
The people used to fast on 'Ashura (the tenth day of the month of Muharram) before the fasting of Ramadan was made obligatory. And on that day the Kaba used to be covered with a cover. When Allah made the fasting of the month of Ramadan compulsory, Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Whoever wishes to fast (on the day of 'Ashura') may do so; and whoever wishes to leave it can do so."
Sahih al-Bukhari 1592.
