*THE PESSIMIST CREATES AN ATMOSPHERE OF DEPRESSION*
*"My delight of the eye is in prayer."* (Hadīth)
A person influences the mood and attitude of his companion. If a person - be it a friend, a life-partner or a colleague - is calm, cheerful and optimistic, then he will transmit these good characteristics to his companion.
But if he is frowned and miserable, fed up with life, always worried and pessimistic, then he will transfer this bleak anxiety to his companion like a contagious disease.
It is not just people who can have this effect. There are books , TV shows and radios programmes as well. Some are optimistic and some are pessimistic; some provoke anxiety and some promote peace of mind. Books, especially, are like seasons, some are like spring and some are like autumn. If a person is guided to choose optimistic books that celebrate life and encourage one to strive, succeed and be confident, then he will have done himself a favour. But if he chooses books that cause worry and provoke doubts about values and human nature, and that are pessimistic about life and mankind, then he will be influenced by their contagion as a leper affects a healthy man, and that may disrupt his life.
*"The way to happiness is in front of you, so seek it by means of knowledge, righteous deeds and a good attitude. Be moderate in all your affairs and you will be happy."*
