 Holding firmly to the Sunnah.

Alhamdulillah, let's remind ourselves and know that the Sunnah is very important.

Sunnah means the path Or way. It is the way which the messenger of Allah salla Allahu alayhi wasalam had laid for us teaching us a lot about the Quran.

Allah says,

Al-Baqarah 2:151

كَمَآ أَرۡسَلۡنَا فِيكُمۡ رَسُولࣰا مِّنكُمۡ يَتۡلُواْ عَلَيۡكُمۡ ءَايَٰتِنَا وَيُزَكِّيكُمۡ وَيُعَلِّمُكُمُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ وَٱلۡحِكۡمَةَ وَيُعَلِّمُكُم مَّا لَمۡ تَكُونُواْ تَعۡلَمُونَ

Just as We have sent among you a messenger from yourselves reciting to you Our verses and purifying you and teaching you the Book and wisdom[1] and teaching you that which you did not know.

This refers to the prophet of Allah

Salla Allahu alayhi wasalam and his Sunnah which he is teaching us.

Allah says in Quran,

Aal-e-Imran 3:164

لَقَدۡ مَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَى ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ إِذۡ بَعَثَ فِيهِمۡ رَسُولࣰا مِّنۡ أَنفُسِهِمۡ يَتۡلُواْ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ وَيُزَكِّيهِمۡ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ وَٱلۡحِكۡمَةَ وَإِن كَانُواْ مِن قَبۡلُ لَفِي ضَلَٰلࣲ مُّبِينٍ

Certainly did Allāh confer [great] favor upon the believers when He sent among them a Messenger from themselves, reciting to them His verses and purifying them and teaching them the Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] and wisdom,[1] although they had been before in manifest error.

The wisdom here is Sunnah of the prophet peace be upon him.

Allah says,

Al-Jumu'ah 62:2

هُوَ ٱلَّذِي بَعَثَ فِي ٱلۡأُمِّيِّينَ رَسُولࣰا مِّنۡهُمۡ يَتۡلُواْ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ وَيُزَكِّيهِمۡ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ وَٱلۡحِكۡمَةَ وَإِن كَانُواْ مِن قَبۡلُ لَفِي ضَلَٰلࣲ مُّبِينࣲ

It is He who has sent among the unlettered [Arabs] a Messenger from themselves reciting to them His verses and purifying them and teaching them the Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] and wisdom [i.e., the sunnah] - although they were before in clear error -

Imam ibn Tabari rahimullah says the Hikmah means Sunnah.

There are many hadith that tells us of the following of Sunnah of the prophet pbuh.
