[[----Part Seven----]]------------------------------
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
“Dua and taawwudhat [prayers seeking refuge with Allah] are like a weapon, and a weapon is only as good as the person who is using it; it is not merely the matter of how sharp it is. If the weapon is perfect and free of faults, and the arm of the person using it is strong, and there is nothing stopping him, then he can lay waste the enemy. But if any of these three features is lacking, then the effect will be lacking accordingly.” 📚(Ad-Da’ wad-Dawa’, p. 35)
From this statement, it will be clear that there is an etiquette and rulings which must be fulfilled, in the Dua and in the person making the Dua.
This is why,
Even though the month of Ramadan is a month where our Du'as is accepted, some people's duas will never get answered.
Now,
Continuation of the previous episodes - *"What we must not ignore if we don't want our Du'a rejected"* - as promised:
*Condition No 4:* Failure to Start your du‘ā’ with Praising Allah.
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: “There is none who likes to be praised more than Allah does.” 📚(Bukhārī)
Also,
The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) once heard a person making du‘ā’.. He the man) did not glorify Allah (ʿazza wa jall) nor invoke salawāt upon the Messenger of Allah (PBUH). The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) then said: ‘He (the man) was too hasty.’
He (the Prophet) called the man and said: *‘When one of you makes du‘ā’, he should start off with praising and glorifying His Lord (ʿazza wa jall), and should then invoke salawāt on the Prophet. He should then make du‘ā’ for whatever he wishes."* 📚(Abū Dāwūd)
Muslim Faithful!
When we come to make Du'a, we should ask Allah (swt) by HIS names. Yes. Because the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) heard a man saying:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ أَنِّي أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ الأَحَدُ الصَّمَدُ الَّذِي لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ
"O Allah, I ask Thee, I bear witness that there is no god but Thou, the One, He to Whom men repair, Who has not begotten, and has not been begotten, and to Whom no one is equal"
Upon hearing this, the prophet said: "You have supplicated Allah using His Greatest Name, and when anyone asked Allah with this name, He (Allah) gives, and when anyone supplicated by this name He (Allah) answers. 📚[Abu Dawud]
Therefore,
Anyone who come to make Du'a should FIRST open floor with praising Allah (swt) using the wordings above and or any names or attributes of Allah, then, send salutations to our beloved prophet (PBUH), then, show gratitude to Allah (swt) by mentioning any of the few favors we have received from Allah since birth, then, mention any new things you want Allah to do for you, then, make Du'a for your parents.
