 *Discussing Sawdah*

[[----- Part 8-of-8 -----]]
---------------------------------

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Nana Saudah (r.a.) had a particular love for the Prophet (PBUH). In his last illness, the Prophet (PBUH) said, *“Among the pure wives of the Prophet, the first wife to meet me there will be the one with the longest hands.”* After hearing this, the Prophet’s wives began measuring their hands💪🏼 to check who was most fortunate enough to have the longest hands and thus be the first to reach her beloved! Nana Saudah (r.a.), who was tall, turned out to have the longest hands. She was very pleased and said, *“This good fortune will fall to my lot first and I will be the first to be reunited with my beloved.”*📚Bukhari Kitabul Zakat

*Lessons:*

It pays well in this world 🌎 and the next to be a good & obedient wife.

▪️It was narrated from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn ‘Awf (r.a.) that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: *“If a woman does her five (daily prayers), fasts her month (Ramadan), guards her chastity and obeys her husband, it will be said to her: Enter whichever of the gates of Paradise you want.”* 📚Narrated by Ahmad (1/191).

▪️It was narrated from Husayn ibn Muhsin (r.a.) that his paternal aunt went to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) concerning some need and he met her need, then he (the Prophet Muhammad) said: *“Do you have a husband?” She said: Yes. He said: “How are you with him?” She said: I do what he tells me, except what is beyond me. He (the Prophet Muhammad) said: “Look at how you are with him, for he is your Paradise and your Hell.”* 📚Narrated by Ahmad (4/341).

Al-Manawi said in Fayd al-Qadeer (3/60):

i.e., he (your husband) is the cause of your entering Paradise if he is pleased with you, and the cause of your entering Hell if he is displeased with you. So treat him well and do not disobey his commands with regard to that which is not a sin. End quote.

My Sisters In Islam!

You are required to obey your husband when he commands, fulfill his request when he orders, abstain when he forbids and respond when he advises. If he commands you not to allow a certain person, whether he is a relative or not, a Mahram or non-Mahram, to enter his home when he is absent, you are required to obey him.

The Messenger of Allah, said: *“Indeed, you have a right over your wives, and your wives have a right over you. As for the right that you have over them, it is to disallow anyone whom you dislike to enter your houses.”* 📚Authentic

Now,

It is widely believed that Nana Saudah died in the 22nd year of the Hijrah towards the end of the Khilafat of Umar (r.a.). She was buried in Jannat-ul-Baqi.

Nana Aisha (r.a.), who was extremely close to her and treasured her companionship, summarised her traits in the following words:

*“I have never wished that I was like any other woman except for Saudah (ra). I would like to have her simple and unpretentious ways and I wish I could be like her and that I could have a heart as pure and clean as hers and her simple ways.”*
