*THE BATTLE OF UHUD continues*
*THE EXPEDITION OF DAWMATUL-JANDAL (A PLACE IN THE ENVIRONS OF ASH-SHĀM)*
The Prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) returned from Badr and Peace reigned supreme in Madīnah. So he wanted to turn his attention to controlling the farthest Arabian borders so that Muslims would have control over the situation and their proponents and opponents would acknowledge their might.
The Prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) stayed in Madīnah for six months after the minor Badr. Then he got information that the tribes which lived around Domatul-Jandal (near Ash-Shām) committed highway robberies against the caravans that used to pass by them and that they got ready for attacking Madīnah. The Prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) formed an army of one thousand fighters of Muslims and employed a man from Banu 'Uzrah called Mazkour as a guide. He made Siba' Ibn Urfatah Al-Ghifāry to run the affairs of Madīnah. The army were marching by night and waiting in ambush by day to attack the enemy unexpectedly. When the army approached them, they turned tail leaving behind much cattle and sheep, some of which the Muslim army captured.
As for the inhabitants of Domatul-Jandal, they fled away. When Muslims entered their dwellings, they found them deserted. So the Prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) stayed for several days and deployed his troops but they found nobody. After that the Prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) returned to Madīnah and ordered Ubayna Ibn Hisn to be in charge of Madīnah.
Through such speedy measures and wise plans the Prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) succeeded in imposing security, spreading peace around the whole region, changing the course of history to the benefit of Muslims and alleviating the external and domestic problems that surrounded them. Hypocrites became quite; a group of the Jews have evacuated from Madīnah; the remaining Jewish groups who lived in Madīnah went into treaties with Muslims; desert nomads yielded to Muslims; Quraish stopped attacking them. So they found a great opportunity to spread Islam and convey the message of Allāh (Sub-haanahu wata'aala).
*{To be continued In-sha-Allāh (If Allāh Wills)...}*
*"And keep reminding, because reminding benefits the believers."* (Qur-ān 51:55)
