*The Happiest Woman in the World*
*(A Treasure Chest of Reminders)*
*Part 6 of 14*
*A LIFE WITH NO EXTRAVAGANCE AND LUXURIES*
"Everything happens by the will and decree of Allāh."
The righteous Muslim woman prepares food according to need, so that nothing is left over to speak of her extravagance and bad management. Her example in this regard is the Mother of the Believers 'Ā'ishah (may Allāh be pleased with her). It was narrated that 'Ā'ishah said: "No barley bread would be left over from the meal of the Messenger of Allāh, neither a little nor a lot."
According to another report: "When the meal was cleaned away from before the Messenger of Allāh, there would be no food left over."
One of the things forbidden in Islam and regarded as extravagance, is the use of vessels of gold and silver for eating and drinking. It is narrated from Umm Salamah (may Allāh be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allāh (Blessings and Peace be upon him) said: "The one who drinks from a vessel of silver is swallowing Hellfire into his stomach."
According to a report narrated by Imām Muslim: "The one who eats or drinks from a vessel of gold or silver is swallowing Hellfire into his stomach."
Indeed, Islam is wise in this prohibition, for these are luxuries that characterise those who live a life of opulence. Islam always wants its followers to be humble and to live away from luxury. The Messenger of Allāh (Blessings and Peace be upon him) said to Mu'ādh Ibn Jabal, when he sent him to Yemen: "Beware of luxury, for the slaves of Allāh are not those who live a life of luxury."
"When you stop looking at your internal misery, you will be happy."
*{To be continued In-sha-Allāh (If Allāh Wills)...}*
*"And keep reminding, because reminding benefits the believers."* (Qur-ān 51:55)
