FAJR REMINDER: HOLDING FIRM AFTER RAMAḌĀN
By: Umm Affān
Ramaḍān 27, 1447 (16-March-2026)
Thanks to Allāh, we are truly in a blessed moment. It is worth asking ourselves: how far have we come during this month? What have we truly gained from it? Take a moment to reflect and perhaps even list the benefits and improvements you have experienced. Although the end of the month is approaching, it is not yet time to bid farewell, for there are still a few precious days remaining.
These remaining days still hold opportunities for increasing acts of worship—prayer, supplication, recitation of the Qur’ān, charity, and other righteous deeds. The believer should continue striving according to his or her ability. It was reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Do those deeds which you can do easily, as Allāh will not get tired (of giving rewards) till you get bored and tired (of performing religious deeds).” Ā'ishah (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anha) added: “The most beloved prayer to the Prophet (ﷺ) was the one that was done regularly (throughout life) even if it were little. And whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) offered a prayer he used to offer it regularly.” [Ṣaḥiḥ al-Bukhārī 1970]
Dear brethren, do not allow Shayṭān and his allies to deceive you. If you are considering returning to the sinful actions you abandoned earlier in this blessed month, correct that intention immediately. A sincere believer should aim for his fasting to be accepted and his sins fully forgiven. Ibn Rajab (Raḥimahullāh) reported: Ka’b Ibn Mālik (Raḥimahullāh) said, “Whoever fasts the month of Ramaḍān and he says to himself that he will return to sinful disobedience when Ramaḍān is over, his fasting is rejected.” [Laṭā’if al-Ma’ārif 1/222]
As Ramaḍān draws closer to its conclusion, make it part of your supplications to remain steadfast and not return to the wrong actions you have repented from. Seek Allāh’s Help in maintaining the good habits you have developed. Allāh says: “If you avoid the great sins which you are forbidden to do, We shall remit from you your (small) sins, and admit you to a Noble Entrance (i.e. Paradise).” [Sūrah An-Nisā‘ (4): 31]
O Muslims! Let this Ramaḍān mark the beginning of a new chapter in your life. Renew your commitment to righteousness and always remember that Allāh sees you at all times, even when no one else does. The Prophet (ﷺ) encouraged us to erase bad deeds by following them with good ones, not to spoil our good deeds by following them with wrongdoing.
I beseech Allāh to forgive us all and grant us steadfastness upon the Straight Path. Aameen.
