FAJR REMINDER: MAKE YOUR REQUESTS
By: Umm Affān
Ramaḍān 23, 1447 (12-March-2026)
Often, we find ourselves sharing our worries with people around us, believing that we have found someone who will listen and offer comfort. They may not always have solutions to our problems, but at times we simply feel the need to talk to someone and unburden our hearts.
Subḥānallāh! In moments like these, where do we place Allāh in our lives? He is the One Who answers every supplication—the One Who hears and understands every thought, every language, and every silent expression. If we truly believe that He listens, then we should turn to Him and speak to Him. As we are in the final part of Ramaḍān, it is an ideal time to privately present our requests to Him.
Even Iblīs, the accursed, made a request and he was granted. So what should a believer in Allāh expect when they sincerely ask their Lord? It is important to remember that without making a request, there can be no response—just as an answer cannot exist without a question. Out of His immense Mercy, Allāh extends an invitation to us when He says: “And when My slaves ask you (O Muḥammad) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them Obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright.” [Sūrah Al-Baqarah (2): 186]
Truly, time is moving quickly. It would be wise to create a list of prayers and sincerely converse with your Lord. We have been given the remarkable opportunity to call upon Allāh. Speak to Him about your needs, admit your shortcomings, express your regret, and share your hopes and aspirations. Abū Sa’īd al-Khudri reported: The Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said, “Verily, Allāh has people He redeems in every day and night of Ramaḍān, and every servant among them has a supplication that will be answered.” [Musnad Aḥmad 7450]
In another narration, Abū Hurayrah (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu) narrated that Allāh’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “The supplications of three are never turned back: a fasting person until he breaks his fast, a just leader, and the supplication of the oppressed is raised above the clouds by Allāh, the gates of heaven open for it and the Lord says: By My might, I will surely help you in due time.” [Sunan At-Tirmidhī 3598]
What more encouragement do we need? I beseech Allāh to include us among those whose supplications He accepts, especially during this blessed month. Aameen.
