FAJR REMINDER: SPENDING FOR ALLĀH’S SAKE

The fourth of the four acts through which we can attain Allāh’s Love—mentioned in the Ḥadīth of Mu’ādh Ibn Jabal (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu)—is SPENDING ON ONE ANOTHER FOR ALLĀH’S SAKE.
Allāh, out of His immense Mercy, has made it binding upon Himself to love those who give to others purely for His Sake. This kind of spending is not just about giving, it reflects true generosity and sincerity. It is when a person gives selflessly, seeking nothing in return—not praise, not recognition, but only the Pleasure of Allāh. Such giving nurtures compassion within the heart and strengthens the bond within the community. Allāh describes the righteous (Al-Abrār), who feed the needy, the orphan, and the captive, (whenever they feed them) they intend: “We feed you seeking Allāh's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you.” [Sūrah Al-Insān (76): 9]
When a person gives with such pure intention, it not only earns the Love of Allāh but also strengthens one’s faith and spreads goodness in society. Moreover, it never leads to loss. Rather, it brings increase and blessing. Allāh says: “Say: Truly, my Lord enlarges the provision for whom He wills of His slaves, and (also) restricts (it) for him, and whatsoever you spend of anything (in Allāh’s Cause), He will replace it. And He is the Best of providers.” [Sūrah Saba (34): 39]
And in a Ḥadīth reported by Abū Hurayrah (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu), the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said: “Allāh said: Spend in charity, O son of Ādam, and I will spend on you.” [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 5352, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 993]
Often, when spending is mentioned, many people limit it to money alone. But in reality, spending goes beyond wealth. We can give from our time, our knowledge, our strength, and even our position—all for the sake of earning Allāh’s Pleasure.
Ibn ‘Umar (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhuma) narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “The most beloved people to Allāh are those who are most beneficial to people. The most beloved deed to Allāh is to make a Muslim happy, or remove one of his troubles, or forgive his debt, or feed his hunger. That I walk with a brother regarding a need is more beloved to me than that I seclude myself in this mosque in Madīnah for a month. Whoever swallows his anger, then Allāh will conceal his faults. Whoever suppresses his rage, even though he could fulfill his anger if he wished, then Allāh will secure his heart on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever walks with his brother regarding a need until he secures it for him, then Allāh Almighty will make his footing firm across the bridge on the day when the footings are shaken.” [al-Mu’jam al-Awsaṭ lil-Ṭabarānī 6026]
O servants of Allāh! Reflect for a moment—who are you helping today? Who are you spending on for His Sake? Let us strive to be people of generosity and compassion, supporting one another and uplifting each other for the Sake of Allāh.
I beseech Allāh to make us among those who show mercy to others. Aameen
