DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaum athalaatha, 12th day of Shaw'waal, 1447AH. Tuesday, 31st March, 2026. *_TAFSEER OF SUURAH AL-BALAD (QUR'AN 90)_*. BismilLahir Rahmanir Raheem.
Alhamdulillah, In yesterday's reminder, we studied about the history and context of this suurah. Let's now start studying the meaning and brief Commentary of each verse.
1. لَا أُقْسِمُ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ
I (ALLAH) swear by this city (Makkah). Commentary:
ALLAH Azzawajal swears by Makkah, a place of honor and sacredness, to draw attention to an important truth. This also comforts the Prophet ﷺ despite hardship, this city holds great significance.
2. وَأَنتَ حِلٌّ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ
And you (O Prophet) are free (of restriction) in this city. Commentary:
Despite Makkah’s sanctity, the Prophet ﷺ was being harmed there. This shows how people can violate even sacred boundaries when they reject truth.
3. وَوَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ
And (by) the parent and what he has born. Commentary:
This refers to mankind that's Aadam (AS) and his offspring, reminding us of our shared origin and human journey.
4. لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ فِي كَبَدٍ
Indeed I, ALLAH created manking in hardship. Commentary: Life is not meant to be easy. Struggles, physical, emotional, spiritual—are part of human existence.
5. أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّن يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ
Does mankind think no one has power over them?: Commentary:
A warning to the arrogant who think they are beyond accountability.
6. يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُّبَدًا
He says, “I have spent abundant wealth” Commentary:
Boasting about wealth—often spent in wrong ways or for showing off.
7. أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّمْ يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ
Does he think no one sees him?
Commentary: ALLAH Azzawajal sees all—our actions, intentions, and spending. To be continued tomorrow In Shaa ALLAH. *_May ALLAH Azzawajal keep guiding and protecting us from any satanic influences_*. Aameen.
