NO such thing as “Laylatul Jaa’izah”*

🔺 *NO such thing as “Laylatul Jaa’izah”*🔺

by Asma bint Shameem

Do NOT pick out the NIGHT BEFORE EID as something “special” or “virtuous” and do NOT make any SPECIAL ibaadaat on it.

Why not?

Because there’s NO PROOF of any SPECIAL VIRTUES for the night before Eid.

And there’s NO SUCH THING as “Laylatul Jaa’izah” that’s proven from the authentic ahaadeeth of the Prophet ﷺ.

Although it is true that Allaah Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala frees people from the fire of Hell at the end of Ramadhaan, the hadeeth talks about “the last NIGHT of RAMADHAAN”.

And NOT “the night of EID”.

You see, the “night” in Islaam begins BEFORE the day.

Thus, the night starts at MAGHRIB and lasts till Fajr. Then the day starts AFTER Fajr and lasts till the next Maghrib.

So when Allaah forgives people in the last night of Ramadhaan, that forgiveness happens in the LAST NIGHT of RAMADHAAN, which is the night BEFORE the last day of fasting.

And it’s NOT the night when the moon for Shawwaal has been sighted and the next day is Eid.

So DO NOT think that the night before Eid should be spent in special ibaadaat or that this night has extra virtues.

There’s no proof of that.

The hadeeth that is reported about Laylatul Jaa’izah and spending the night in special worship is either EXTREMELY WEAK or even FABRICATED.

The “so-called” hadeeth says:

"Whoever stays up on the night of Eid, his heart will not die on the day when hearts die."

This hadeeth is NOT saheeh. And it was classified as FABRICATED by Shaykh al-Albaani.

(Silsilat al-Ahaadeeth al-Da'eefah wa'l-Mawdoo'ah by Sheikh al-Albaani)

That means that the Prophet ﷺ DID NOT spend the night before Eid in any SPECIAL ibaadaat and he DID NOT TEACH the Sahaabah to do that either.

They spent the night before Eid, as they  USUALLY spent the rest of the nights of the year.

🍃 Ibn Taymiyah said:

"The ahaadeeth in which the nights before the two Eids are mentioned are FALSELY attributed to the Prophet ﷺ.”

🍃 Ibn al-Qayyim said regarding the actions of the Prophet ﷺ in the night of Eid:

“Then he ﷺ SLEPT until morning, and did NOT pray any night prayers that night, and nothing is established from him regarding night prayers during both nights of Eids.”

(Zad al-Ma’ad 2/247)

🍃 Shaykh al-Albaani said:

“It is not permissible to gather together for the night prayer except during the Taraweeh prayer in Ramadhaan, and on the first night if Ramadhaan is established, immediately after the Maghrib prayer, for example, such that we are obligated to fast tomorrow; This night is prescribed to pray according to Taraweeh prayers, but it is not the last night of Ramadhaan.

As it has been proven to us that tomorrow is the Eid, it is not permissible to celebrate this Eid night individually, nor is it permissible to celebrate it as a group...”

🍃 Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen said:

“There has been a hadeeth about the virtue of observing the two nights of Eid, but it is a hadeeth that scholars have spoken about, and it is NOT permissible to prove this Sunnah with such a Hadeeth.”

(Majmoo’ Fataawaa wa Rasaa’il volume 16 - Chapter of the Eid prayer)

🍃 Shaikh Azeez Ibn Farhan al-Anzi said:

“What is narrated about staying awake the whole night before the day of Eid is NOT AUTHENTIC at all.

All of the ahaadeeth that mention such are all inauthentic, and differ from fabricated to extremely weak classifications.

Therefore, what is wrong is the concept that some have that the night before Eid has virtue or is special in regards to staying awake. Therefore, one should pray as he does on any normal day, but as for intending specifically the night before Eid to stay awake to do such and such, this is incorrect.

Some scholars of Fiqh mentioned doing such but NONE of this is established or authentic and it is closer to *innovation*.

*WARN the people of this matter*.”

So don’t think this night has ‘special virtue’ and don’t pick this night out for any specific ibaadaat.

HOWEVER , if you wake up *every night* for Qiyaam or Tahajjud and it is part of you NORMAL nightly routine to pray and worship at this time, then it is okay to do so.

But to *specifically* PICK OUT the night before Eid, thinking there is extra reward and special status to worship this night is not correct.

We should only go by PROOFS from the authentic sources when it comes to acts of ibaadah.

And Allaah knows best

NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Arba'a. 29th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Wednesday 8th May 2024). *_NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH_*. BismilLah.  Even though feelings of Panic, stress/worries etc are part of life, they must not reduce our acts of worship or trust in ALLAH. The more a man turns to ALLAH and focuses on HIM, the more he will feel a sense of peace and comfort, to an extent that no one knows except ALLAH. Hence those who know ALLAH, are close to HIM and fear HIM are the happiest of people, to such an extent that one of them said, in a well-known expression: “If the kings and the sons of kings knew what joy we have, they would fight us for it with the sword.” This is also what is expressed in the Qur’an, as ALLAH says: “Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him ALLAH will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and ALLAH will ...

HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaum Al-Khamis, 22nd day of Jumaadal Uula 1447AH, Thursday, 13th November, 2025.  *_HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN_*. BismilLah.  When we help our brothers and sisters in Islam, in reality, we are helping ourselves. The Messenger of ALLAH (S.A.W) said: He who relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, ALLAH Azzawajallah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Judgment. He who makes easy what is difficult, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will make it easy for him in the world and the hereafter. He who conceals the faults of a Muslim, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will conceal his faults in this ALLAH Azzawajallah world and the Hereafter, for ALLAH helps the servant as long as he helps his brother. AlhamdulilLah.  With this I hope with immediate effect we will all strive to help each other in any possible way such as making dua for each other, supporting our relatives and those in need in ou...

BEST TIME FOR TAHAJJUD

*BEST TIME FOR TAHAJJUD* It is best to delay this prayer to the last third portion of the night. Abu Hurairah reports that the Messenger of Allah said: "Our Lord descends to the lowest heaven during the last third of the night, inquiring: 'Who will call on Me so that I may respond to him? Who is asking something of Me so I may give it to him? Who is asking for My forgiveness so I may forgive him?"' This is related by the group. 'Amr ibn Abasah reports that he heard the Prophet say: "The closest that a slave comes to his Lord is during the middle of the latter portion of the night. If you can be among those who remember Allah, the Exalted One, at that time then do so." This is related by al-Hakim who grades it sahih according to Muslim's standards, and at-Tirmizhi calls it hasan sahih. AnNasa'i and Ibn Khuzaimah also recorded it. Abu Muslim asked Abu Zharr: "Which late-night prayer is the best?" He said: "I asked the Messenger of A...
