*40 Hadīths For Children With Stories*
*Episode 30: Bread*
It was a cold winter day. Hassan was returning home with bread he had bought from the bakery. Suddenly he noticed a poor, skinny dog, which was so thin that all its ribs could be counted. The dog was staring at the bread in Hassan's basket and whining.
Hassan was deeply moved by the this pitiful sight. He said to himself "If I give one of my loaves to this poor dog, My mother will be very angry." Then deciding that it was worth to take the risk of his mother's wrath, he put the basket down and started to break the bread into small pieces for the dog.
A man who was coming back from the bakery heard what Hassan had said. He secretly put one of his own loaves into Hassan's basket.
When Hassan arrived home he was surprised to find out that he had just as much bread as he had bought from the bakery!
Of course, Hassan could have explained this if he knew the following Hadīth Of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (Blessings and Peace of Allāh be upon him):
مانقصت صدقةمن مال
رواه مسلم
*"Charity never lessens wealth."*
*[Muslim]*
Source of the Hadīth: Muslim, Kitāb al-Birr, Hadīth Number 69.
*Pearls Of Motivation*
Whatever’s going on in your life right now, never take for granted what the Almighty ALLĀH has done. Remember, all things happen for a reason.
