*The Hypocrite Abdullah bin Ubay*

We should not look at anyone as if they are lower than us.

Nor should we think that they are more evil than us.

Instead we should look at ourselves, and see where we have fallen short.

Allah ﷻ has opened for us the Doors of Repentance.

The biggest calamity is that we think that this door was created and opened for other than us.

_

Allah ﷻ says in the Qur'an

*وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَعَالَوْا۟ يَسْتَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ لَوَّوْا۟ رُءُوسَهُمْ*

_And when it is said to them [the hypocrites] come, the Messenger of Allah will seek forgiveness for you, they turn their heads_

 *وَرَأَيْتَهُمْ يَصُدُّونَ وَهُم مُّسْتَكْبِرُونَ*

_And you would see their faces turning away with pride._

[63:5]

_

It is said that these verses were revealed for the leader of the hypocrites Abdullah ibn Ubayy:

Qatadah and As-Suddi said, "This Ayah was revealed about Abdullah bin Ubay."

In his book, As-Sirah, Muhammad bin Ishaq  رحمه الله mentions the story.

Abdullah ibn Ubayy used to stand every Friday and praise the Prophet ﷺ and order the people to obey him.

After Uhud, when he deserted with 1/3rd of the army, he tried to do so and some Sahaba admonished him because of his treachery.

Thus he stormed out of the masjid, and upon leaving some Sahaba enquired about him, and he said "I merely wanted to support him but his companions jumped at me"

So they replied "Woe to you! Go back so that Allah's Messenger and ask Allah to forgive you."

So he replied _"By Allah, I do not wish that he ask Allah to forgive me"_

_

Refusing to repent, thinking that it is not for us is a sign of arrogance and pride, and the same characteristic that the leader of the hypocrites had!

_

Be aware also dear brothers and sisters in Islam, that, among the logical reasons behind Allaah’s love for His slaves is repentance, which is  one of His attributes ‘At-Tawwaab’ (the One who accepts repentance).

We should all think that we are most in need of forgiveness above others.

Let us not forget and belittle our sins, let them be at the forefront of our minds

_

This holds such importance,

That even Habib Allah, Imam An Nabiyeen Rasool Allah ﷺ used to repent more than 70 times everyday or 100 times (as per another narration)

_

Abu Umamah رضي الله عنه reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

_“Verily, the angel on the left side will raise his pen over the error or sin of a Muslim servant for six hours. If he sincerely regrets it and seeks forgiveness from Allah, the angel will throw it aside. Otherwise, he will record it as one sin.”_

[Al-Mu’jam al-Kabīr 7765, Grade: Hasan (fair) according to Al-Albani]

_

Prophet ﷺ taught us this profound dua for forgiveness:

 *اللَّهُمَّ مَغْفِرَتُكَ أَوْسَعُ مِنْ ذُنُوبِي وَرَحْمَتُكَ أَرْجَى عِنْدِي مِنْ عَمَلِي*

_O Allah, your forgiveness is vaster than my sins, and your mercy is more hopeful to me than my deeds_

It is reported that when one of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ repeated this dua the Prophet ﷺ said, “Stand up, for Allah has forgiven you.”

[Shu’ab al-Imān 6622, Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Suyuti]

_

Ya Ibn Adam, the door of repentance is open to all and will be until the sun rises from the west.

May Allah ﷻ make us among those who constantly repent to Him.

NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Arba'a. 29th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Wednesday 8th May 2024). *_NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH_*. BismilLah.  Even though feelings of Panic, stress/worries etc are part of life, they must not reduce our acts of worship or trust in ALLAH. The more a man turns to ALLAH and focuses on HIM, the more he will feel a sense of peace and comfort, to an extent that no one knows except ALLAH. Hence those who know ALLAH, are close to HIM and fear HIM are the happiest of people, to such an extent that one of them said, in a well-known expression: “If the kings and the sons of kings knew what joy we have, they would fight us for it with the sword.” This is also what is expressed in the Qur’an, as ALLAH says: “Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him ALLAH will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and ALLAH will ...

HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaum Al-Khamis, 22nd day of Jumaadal Uula 1447AH, Thursday, 13th November, 2025.  *_HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN_*. BismilLah.  When we help our brothers and sisters in Islam, in reality, we are helping ourselves. The Messenger of ALLAH (S.A.W) said: He who relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, ALLAH Azzawajallah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Judgment. He who makes easy what is difficult, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will make it easy for him in the world and the hereafter. He who conceals the faults of a Muslim, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will conceal his faults in this ALLAH Azzawajallah world and the Hereafter, for ALLAH helps the servant as long as he helps his brother. Source: Ṣaḥīḥ "Muslim 2699. AlhamdulilLah.  With this I hope with immediate effect we will all strive to help each other in any possible way such as making dua for each other, supporting our relatives and those in need in ou...

THE MUSLIM WOMAN AND HER OWN SELF

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yawm athalaatha, 3rd day of Rabeeul Awwal 1447AH, Tuesday, 26th August 2025. *_THE MUSLIM WOMAN AND HER OWN SELF_*. BismilLah.  Islam encourages Muslims in general to stand out among people, readily distinguishable by their dress, appearance and behaviour, so that they will be a good example, worthy of the great message that they bring to humanity. According to the hadith narrated by the great Sahabi Ibn al-Hanzaliyyah, the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam ) told his Companions, when they were travelling to meet some brothers in faith: "You are going to visit your brothers, so repair your saddles and make sure that you are dressed well, so that you will stand out among people like an adornment, for ALLAH (SWT) does not love ugliness." Reported by Imam Abu Dawud, 4/83, in Kitab al-libas, bab ma ja'a fi isbal al-izar. The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) considered an unkempt and careless appearance, and scruffy clothes and furnishings, to be...
