Alhamdulillah, the dignity of parents is very great in Islam.

In fact, disobeying parents is the second most heinous sin in Islam.

Allah says in Quran,

Al-Baqarah 2:83

And [recall] when We took the covenant from the Children of Israel, [enjoining upon them], "Do not worship except Allah; and to parents do good and to relatives, orphans, and the needy. And speak to people good [words] and establish prayer and give Zakah." Then you turned away, except a few of you, and you were refusing.

Allah says,

An-Nisa' 4:36

Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbor, the neighbor farther away, the companion at your side, the traveler, and those whom your right hands possess. Indeed, Allah does not like those who are self-deluding and boastful,

Whenever Allah talks of shirk, the next is disobedient of parents.

The prophet pbuh when a man came to him asking of the greatest sin in Islam

He صل الله عليه وسلم said,

To associate partners with Allah.

The man asked what is next?

He s.a.w said to disobey ones parents.

Saheeh.

Disobeying parents earn the anger of Allah s.w.t while pleasing them also earns the pleasure of Allah s.w.t.

A worshipper of Allah s.w.t called juraiyj was praying oneday while his mother called him but he started to speak to himself,

O Allah! My mother.. But he continue to pray so his mother made dua to him,

O Allah! Do not make jurayj to die unless he meet the fitnah of women.

So oneday he was there a pregnant prostitute came to the Jews telling them of jurayj impregnating her.

The Jewish people started to beat jurayj and break his place of worship.

Jurayj then decided to seek Allah's aid praying two rakaah.

So jurayj came and ask the baby whom his father was?

The baby spoke saying so and so is my father the Shepherd.

When the people saw that they say let's build jurayj a place of worship of gold and silver.

Jurayj said do not do so for it is the dua of my mother which came to infect.

(Saheeh)

Subhanallah, such is the mom's dua.
