ZUHD (DETACHMENT). Don't Overindulge In The Dunya

*Don't Overindulge In The Dunya*

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud رضي الله عنه reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ laid down upon a reed mat and it left marks on his side. When he woke up, I started wiping his side and I said, “O Messenger of Allah, why do you not let us spread something on top of this mat for you?” The Prophet said, *_“What is the world to me? What am I to the world? Verily, the example of this world and myself is that of a rider who seeks shade under a tree, then he moves on and leaves it behind.”_*

[Musnad Aḥmad 3701, Grade: Sahih]

_

This response should make us think.

This Dunya is merely a transit stop in between flights, to the real destination!

Any person who sets up his permanent residence in transit, would be considered mad!

Yet, we are fine with making our Jannah in this world, forgetting where our true Jannah lies!

_

The Prophet ﷺ refused a life of a king and chose the life of a slave.

So why are we admiring the life of kings and chasing that, while not being content with what suffices for us?

_

Imam Nawawi رحمه الله in his Muqadimmah of Riyadh As Saliheen said:

_The most intelligent of the people in the Dunya are those who do Zuhd!_

_

And what is Zuhd?

*لِكَيلَا تَأسَوا عَلَى مَا فَاتَكُم وَ لَا تَفرَحُوا بِمَا آتَاكُمُ*

_So that they don’t despair over what has missed them, nor be overjoyed with what has reached them._

_

A man once asked Abdullāh bin ʿAmr bin Al-As رضي الله عنه:

“Are we not from the poor of the Muhajirin?” He replied, “Do you have a wife to go back to?” The man replied, “Yes.” ʿAbdullah asked, “Do you have a home to live in?” The man said, “Yes.” ʿAbdullah said, “Then you are one of the rich.” The man said, “And I have a servant.” ʿAbdullah said, “In that case, you are a king!”

[Sahih Muslim 5290]

_

You should be the same whether you have a lot of money or whether you miss out on a lot of money.

_

Don’t be deceived by the Dunya and remain attached to it’s allure!

_

Az-Zuhd resides in the heart, and it can be achieved by ridding the heart of the slave from the love and the eagerness for this life. This way, the dunya will be in one's hand, not in his heart, where the love for Allah ﷻ and the Hereafter will and should reside.

Az-Zuhd does not entail abandoning the dunya altogether.

_

May Allah ﷻ grant us Tawfeeq, May Allah ﷻ forgive us and grant us Jannah Al Firdous.

*آمين*

NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Arba'a. 29th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Wednesday 8th May 2024). *_NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH_*. BismilLah.  Even though feelings of Panic, stress/worries etc are part of life, they must not reduce our acts of worship or trust in ALLAH. The more a man turns to ALLAH and focuses on HIM, the more he will feel a sense of peace and comfort, to an extent that no one knows except ALLAH. Hence those who know ALLAH, are close to HIM and fear HIM are the happiest of people, to such an extent that one of them said, in a well-known expression: “If the kings and the sons of kings knew what joy we have, they would fight us for it with the sword.” This is also what is expressed in the Qur’an, as ALLAH says: “Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him ALLAH will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and ALLAH will ...

GIVE CHARITY FOR YOUR OWN GOOD

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Ath-thalaatha. 28th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Tuesday 7th May 2024). *_GIVE CHARITY FOR YOUR OWN GOOD_*. Aameen.  Narrated Abu Hurairah [radhi-yAllahu 'anhu]: The Prophet (SallallahuAlaihiWasallam) said, "Charity is obligatory everyday on every joint of a human being.* If one helps a person in matters concerning his riding animal by helping him to ride on it or by lifting his luggage on to it, all these will be regarded as charity. A good word, and every step one takes to offer the compulsory congregational prayer is regarded as charity; and guiding somebody on the road is regarded as charity." [Sahih Al-Bukhari, 4/2891]. To show gratitude to ALLAH for keeping your body safe and sound, you should give in charity or do charitable deeds. Narrated Abu Hurairah [radhi-yAllahu 'anhu]: ALLAH'S Messenger (sallallahuAlaihiWasallam) said, "The strong is not the one who overcomes the people by his strength, but the strong is the one w...

IMPORTANCE OF SEEKING KNOWLEDGE An obligation upon every Muslim

﷽ ➖➖➖ *IMPORTANCE OF SEEKING KNOWLEDGE* ➖➖➖ *An obligation upon every Muslim* ➖➖➖  Allah ﷻ says  *وَعَلَّمَ ءَادَمَ الأَسْمَآءَ كُلَّهَا* _And He taught Adam all the names of everything_ Meaning, the names that people use, such as human, animal, sky, earth, land, sea, horse, donkey, and so forth, including the names of the other species" *ثُمَّ عَرَضَهُمْ عَلَى الْمَلَـئِكَةِ* _Then He showed them to the angels_ Meaning, the creations.
