Al walaa' and Al Baraa'.
Al walaa' and Al Baraa' means love for the sake of Allah and Hate for the sake of Allah.
As Allah says,
At-Taubah 9:24
Say, [O Muḥammad], "If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your relatives, wealth which you have obtained, commerce wherein you fear decline, and dwellings with which you are pleased are more beloved to you than Allāh and His Messenger and jihād [i.e., striving] in His cause, then wait until Allāh executes His command. And Allāh does not guide the defiantly disobedient people."
If we love a person, it should be because he loved Allah and his messenger and if we will hate a person, it should be on disobedience he or she did against Allah and his rasool.
As reported from Hadith,
Narrated Anas bin Malik:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "None will have the sweetness (delight) of Faith (a) till he loves a person and loveshim only for Allah's sake, (b) and till it becomes dearer to him to be thrown in the fire than to revert to disbelief (Heathenism) after Allah has brought him out of it, (c) and till Allah and His Apostle become dearer to him than anything else."
Sahih al-Bukhari 6041.
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:
Verily. Allah would say on the Day of Resurrection: Where are those who have mutual love for My Glory's sake? Today I shall shelter them in My shadowwhen there is no other shadow but the shadow of Mine.
Sahih Muslim 2566.
Allah will grant these two shade because they loved for his sake.
May Allah grants us sweetness of Eeman. Aamin
