 The importance of dua and seeking refuge from the evil. 


Alhamdulillah, the evil among men and jinns do exist and we need to seek refuge from the evil of men and jinns by reciting the muwadhatain verses like ikhlas, falaq and nnas. 

These verses are protection against evil and the messenger of Allah salla Allahu alayhi wasalam used to recite them always when about to sleep. 


Also reciting Ayatul kursiyy is also a protection as reported from hadith, 

It was narrated that Abu Sa'eed said:

The Messenger of Allah [SAW] used to seek refuge from the evil eye of the Jinn and the evil eyeof humans. When Al-Mu'awwadhatan were revealed, he started to recite them and stopped reciting anything else."

Sunan an-Nasa'i 5494.

Abu Sa'eed narrated:

The Messenger of Allah(S.A.W) would seek refuge from the jinn and the (evil) eye of humans, untilAl-Mu'awwidhatain were revealed. So they were revealed he used them and left other than them."

Jami'at At Tirmidhee


Vol. 4, Book 2, Hadith 2058.


The Mu'awidhatain verses are surah ikhlas, falaq and nnas. 


Reciting these surah frequently protects from from evil. 


Another dua to recite is, 

A'oothu bikalimaati laahi taa'mati bi sharri maa khalaq. 

As reported in hadith.

Abu Hurairah reports that the Messenger of Allah said: "Our Lord descends to the lowest heaven during the last third of the night, inquiring: 'Who will call on Me so that I may respond to him?
