Our children are Amaanah upon us.
Alhamdulillah, our children in Islam are amanah and Allah will question every parents concerning the affairs of their children.
Allah subhana wa ta'Ala says in Quran,
At-Tahrim 66:6
O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allāh in what He commands them but do what they are commanded.
As reported in Hadith,
It has been narrated on the authority of Ibn 'Umar that the Prophet (May be upon him) said:
Beware. every one of you is a shepherd and every one is answerable with regard to his flock. The Caliph isa shepherd over the people and shall be questioned about his subjects (as to how he conducted their affairs). A man is a guardian over the members of his family and shal be questioned about them (as to how he looked after their physical and moral well-being). A woman is a guardian over the household of her husband and his children and shall be questioned about them (as to how she managed the household and brought up the children). A slave is a guardian over the property of his master and shall be questioned about it (as to how he safeguarded his trust). Beware, every one of you is a guardian and every one of you shall be questioned with regard to his trust.
Sahih Muslim 1829.
So Allah will question a father on how he treat his families and the mother on how she trains her child.
If as parents we do not teach our children who Allah is and the deen of Islam, Allah s.w.t will held as accountable except we have do our best but they the children did not adhere to it, at that time we are free from blame.
But if we neglect our children and not to teach them how to pray and they grow up and do we not pray, Allah s.w.t will question us.
As reported in hadith,
Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Command your children to pray when they become seven years old, and beat them for it (prayer) when they become ten years old; and arrange their beds (to sleep) separately.
Sunan Abi Dawud 495.
