The dignity of making istighfar.
Alhamdulillah, Istighfar is part of the character of a believer.
Allah says,
Adh-Dhariyat 51:17
They used to sleep but little of the night,[1]
Adh-Dhariyat 51:18
And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness,
Allah says when Nuh AS said to his people,
Nuh 71:10
فَقُلْتُ ٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّارًا
And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver.
The messenger of Allah salla Allahu alayhi wasalam used to seek forgiveness of Allah for seventy times a day and sometimes hundred times a day
As reported in hadith,
Narrated Abu Huraira:
I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying." By Allah! I ask for forgiveness from Allah and turn to Him in repentance more than seventy times a day.""
