*Be a Good Tenant*
------------------------------بسم الله الرحمان الرجيم
Masjid is the house of Allah (swt) and every servant of Allah is expected to be a good tenant since it's not angels or jinns who are using the house of Allah.
Who's a good tenant?
A good tenant is the person who treats the house he or she lives like their own personal home—paying all the bills that keep the house in a good function, keeping it conducive, and respecting both the property and the people around them.
My people!
Being a good tenant in the house of Allah (Masjid) is a direct instruction from the glorious Qur'an. Yes. In Surah At-Taubah, chapter 9 verse 18, Allah (swt) say:
إِنَّمَا يَعْمُرُ مَسَٰجِدَ ٱللَّهِ مَنْ ءَامَنَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْءَاخِرِ
"The mosques of Allāh are maintained by those who believe in Allāh and the Last Day..." 📚At-Taubah 9:18
My people!
It's popularly said *"Action Speak Louder than Words"* . And the Qur'an verse above have proven to us that, without taking care of our Masjid (by giving FISSABILILLAHI), our verbal expression of believing in Allah and the last day will have no basis.
It's good to remember that,
Generations before us had received COUNTLESS MIRACULOUS favors from Allah (swt). So, it's very easy for Allah (swt) to send down money required for REGULAR maintenance of the HIS house (masjid).
But
Allah (swt) did not design it that HIS Angels from the sky should descend to do the jobs of masjid maintenance meant for human beings.
Servants of Allah!
The Prophet (pbuh) was the most generous during the blessed month. But his generosity didn’t stop at Ramadan, and nor should yours stop because Ramadan is gone.
Today,
In our houses, we changed this and that because they are spoiled, we buy this and that for the smooth running of the house (despite the hash economy). Yes. It's not only in our houses that caretaking culture is required, but even in the masjid where we worship Allah (swt), maintenance and replacement culture is a necessity.
*Moment like this:*
A man came to the Prophet, (PBUH) and he said, *“O Messenger of Allah, which charity has the greatest reward?” The Prophet said, “That you give charity while you are healthy, greedy, fearing poverty, and hoping to be rich. Do not delay giving...”* 📚 Al-Bukhari 1419, Sahih Muslim 1032
Therefore,
I remind myself, you and every woman who pray at home to prepare to be dropping something (reasonable) inside FISSABILILLAHI BOX... Every woman ? Yes. Women who pray at home should also not be left behind in budgeting something for the maintenance of the house of Allah. As many masaajid have account details which she can use to send her contribution. She can also send her husband or son to help her drop something inside Fissabilillahi box *(ie - if she knows that her husband or son will not corner it into his pocket)*. We should do this REGULARLY especially on FRIDAY - for the running of the activities of the masjid & for the propagation of the religion of Allah in general.
The rewards of SADAQAH in this hard time is bigger than huge & unquantifiable *(according to authentic hadith)*. And the ONLY person who is EXCLUDED from giving at any point in time is the person who have nothing at all to give.
