*Wet dreams & Gusl*
--------------------------------Questions asked, copied and pasted below:
"Salam sir. Please when do i take janabah birth after wet dreams and when do i not take janabah birth after wet dreams?"
Response:
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
With regards to wet dreams, men and women have the similar rulings. So, if a man or woman has a wet dream and he/she sees wetness or discharge, they are obliged to make ghusl, even if they are not certain the wetness is from an ejaculation or orgasm. In other words, *even if he/she has constant discharge and suspects the wetness not to be sexual discharge, ghusl is still obligatory if he/she recalls seeing a wet dream*. Yes. The only exception is for a man when he knows that this discharge is wady – a thick white fluid which exits after urinating or carrying something heavy which is only present in men.
In a nutshell,
▪️If one sleep off and doesn’t remember having a wet dream BUT *"sees discharge"*, there are two rulings:
1- he/she must do ghusl if he/she believes the discharge could be sexual fluid from an ejaculation/orgasm; i.e. the mere possibility of the discharge being sexual fluid, then, this is enough to make ghusl necessary.
2- If he/she knows that the fluid is madhy, then, he/she does not have to do ghusl.
▪️If there is no discharge, even if one remembers having a wet dream, he/she is not obliged to do ghusl.
Evidence:
Aisha (ra) said: The Messenger of Allah, sallallahu alihi wasalam, was asked about a man who notices some wetness but does not remember having a wet dream. He (the Prophet) said, *“He should do ghusl.”* He (the Prophet) was asked about a man who thinks that he had an erotic dream but does not see any wetness. He (the Prophet) said, *“He does not have to do ghusl.”* Umm Salamah said, “O Messenger of Allah, does a woman have to do ghusl if she sees something like that?” He (the Prophet) said, *“Yes, women are the twin halves of men.”* 📚(Tirmidhi, Abu Dawood)
Now,
*If Someone Touches His or Her Private Part After Gusl Janabah:*
Except if you want to use the janabah birth to observe swalah, if not, there's no need to repeat the ablution again after your Gusl *(if you start with ablution)*. Yes. But if you want to use the janabah birth to observe swalah after, then, to be on the safe side, you should end your birth with wudoo’ - ablution INSTEAD of starting your birth with ablution, because the majority of scholars are of the view that touching the private part invalidates wudoo’ - ablution.
*Step by Step Way of Gusl Janabah:*
In Islam, purification is usually recommended after certain instances. Eg a Muslim is expected to purify him/herself after sexual intercourse or stimulation *(even if it's from masturbation)*, menstrual period, wet dreams just to name a few.. Remember that masturbation is prohibited in Islam *(except if it's the husband or wife who will do it for each other during foreplay)*
The description is as follows:
(1) Intention - to be taken in your heart and not verbally
(2)The hands are washed twice or thrice.
(3) The private parts are washed.
(4) Wudu’ - ablution is performed in the beginning of the birth or one can delay to perform ablution till the end of the birth especially if you want to use the janabah birth to observe swalah.
(5) Water is poured on the head. The remaining part of the body is washed (preferably beginning with right side downward, then, the left side downward).
(6) The legs are washed
