*Some believe reciting a specific Surah a certain number of times equals to reciting the entir Qur’an, and that is enough and there is No need to recite the entire Mushaf from cover to cover.* *Some of us regularly recite the Qur’an without understanding its exegesis and we believe, we know what’s in the Qur’an.* Point to Reflect: *Allah ﷻ calls those who do not have the knowledge of the Book: ummyyeen – the illiterate.* Then what about us?. *??? With our fancy titles and degrees, and no knowledge of the Qur’an or only knowing a few Surahs are we really the literate ones????* *“…woe to those who write the scripture with their own hands, then say, ‘This is from Allah"*.

This addresses the Rabbis who altered the Book of Allah and wrote another book by their own hands and then said, “This is from Allah.” When someone seeking to do evil came to them, they would take out the distorted book that proved his being in the right and would give their fatwa. To give an opinion according to the seeker’s desire, they would charge a ‘price’. This was their business. They were not honest with their job and the Book of Allah. _therefore, Allah ﷻ says, “Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn.” *Why were the Rabbis able to exploit their religion?*.

It was because the common people  has no knowledge of the Book. *It is like today, Muslims believe that the only person capable of reading and understanding the Book is the Imam at the Masjid.* We do not study the Qur’an ourselves, mess up our lives and then blame the religion. *What is stopping us from studying the Qur’an,?*. Allah ﷻ did not put a condition that only the one who works in the Masjid should read the Qur’an?. If we don’t gain knowledge about the religious matters and the Qur’an, anyone can trick us. Do not allow yourself to be fooled due to your ignorance of the Book.

   *Let's continue on this* 👇.

O believers! (Seeking the kind attention of the Holy Prophet) do not say: ‘ra‘ina (Pay attention to us),’ but submit (most humbly): ‘unzurna (Bless us with your benevolent gaze),’ and be all ears (towards his gracious discourse). And there is grievous torment for the disbelievers.

Among other perversities, some of the Jews invented a new mischief. When they presented themselves before the Prophet ﷺ they would address him with the word  *Ra’ina, which in Arabic means "be mindful of us".... but in Hebrew it is a curse*. The latter is what they intended, but the Arabs, not knowing Hebrew, could not see the point. With  the Arab sense of the  word in mind, the Muslims too began to address the Prophet ﷺ in the same manner. That did not only delight the Jews who had found a way of insulting the Prophet ﷺ openly, but also had tricked the Muslims into joining them.

Allah ﷻ  revealed this ayaat and forbid the believers from imitating the Jews in their intentional disrespect for the Prophet ﷺ.

The word  *Ra’ina [رَاعِنَا]* has several meanings and one of them is *‘one who feeds flocks or a shepherd’.* The word does not befit someone higher than you in status and position, such as a Prophet of Allah. It can be used among common people who are of equal standing because it means *“We hear from you, and you hear from us.”* It was the habit of the Jews to mock the commands of Allah ﷻ ridicule His prophets‘alayhi salaam and change the words that they were instructed to say, thereafter, Allah forbade the believers from uttering the word Ra`ina.

As a replacement, the word that Allah ﷻ chose for the believers to use was  *unzur’na[انظُرْنَا]*  which means *‘to see, to look at glance, to listen to, to be patient towards or to show kindness.’* Nazara is an affectionate look. This word was more befitting to be said to the Prophet ﷺ than the one that the Jews had chosen. The ayah also announces dire punishment for whoever claims to be a believer and does not watch his speech, especially in the assembly of the Prophet ﷺ.

*Let's continue on this verse* 👇.                          [66:8] Al-Taḥrīm-

O believers! Turn towards Allah’s presence in perfect and most sincere repentance. Your Lord will certainly remove your sins from you, and admit you to the Gardens with streams flowing under them. On the Day when Allah will not slight (His) Prophet (blessings and peace be upon him) and those believers who are in his companionship (visibly or invisibly), their light will be moving fast (brightening) ahead of them and on their right side. They will be submitting: ‘O our Lord, perfect our light for us and forgive us. Surely, You have absolute power over everything.’

One should offer such true repentance as... 1⃣. It may have no tinge of pretense and hypocrisy in it. 2⃣. or that one should so improve his life after repentance as to become a cause of admonition for others. Ibn Abi Hatim narrated that Ubayy bin Kaab said the Prophet said: *It implies that when you happen to commit an error, you should feel penitent for it, then should implore Allah for forgiveness remorsefully, and then should refrain from committing the same error again*. Ali once heard a desert Arab chanting the words of repentance and forgiveness quickly and mechanically and remarked: *This is the repentance of the liars*. The man asked: What is true repentance?.

And you (will wonder) if you see (the spectacle) when the angels take away the souls of the disbelievers. They continue striking their faces and backs (with hammers and say): ‘Taste the torment of the Fire (of Hell).’

NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Arba'a. 29th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Wednesday 8th May 2024). *_NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH_*. BismilLah.  Even though feelings of Panic, stress/worries etc are part of life, they must not reduce our acts of worship or trust in ALLAH. The more a man turns to ALLAH and focuses on HIM, the more he will feel a sense of peace and comfort, to an extent that no one knows except ALLAH. Hence those who know ALLAH, are close to HIM and fear HIM are the happiest of people, to such an extent that one of them said, in a well-known expression: “If the kings and the sons of kings knew what joy we have, they would fight us for it with the sword.” This is also what is expressed in the Qur’an, as ALLAH says: “Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him ALLAH will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and ALLAH will ...

HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaum Al-Khamis, 22nd day of Jumaadal Uula 1447AH, Thursday, 13th November, 2025.  *_HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN_*. BismilLah.  When we help our brothers and sisters in Islam, in reality, we are helping ourselves. The Messenger of ALLAH (S.A.W) said: He who relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, ALLAH Azzawajallah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Judgment. He who makes easy what is difficult, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will make it easy for him in the world and the hereafter. He who conceals the faults of a Muslim, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will conceal his faults in this ALLAH Azzawajallah world and the Hereafter, for ALLAH helps the servant as long as he helps his brother. Source: Ṣaḥīḥ "Muslim 2699. AlhamdulilLah.  With this I hope with immediate effect we will all strive to help each other in any possible way such as making dua for each other, supporting our relatives and those in need in ou...

THE MUSLIM WOMAN AND HER OWN SELF

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yawm athalaatha, 3rd day of Rabeeul Awwal 1447AH, Tuesday, 26th August 2025. *_THE MUSLIM WOMAN AND HER OWN SELF_*. BismilLah.  Islam encourages Muslims in general to stand out among people, readily distinguishable by their dress, appearance and behaviour, so that they will be a good example, worthy of the great message that they bring to humanity. According to the hadith narrated by the great Sahabi Ibn al-Hanzaliyyah, the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam ) told his Companions, when they were travelling to meet some brothers in faith: "You are going to visit your brothers, so repair your saddles and make sure that you are dressed well, so that you will stand out among people like an adornment, for ALLAH (SWT) does not love ugliness." Reported by Imam Abu Dawud, 4/83, in Kitab al-libas, bab ma ja'a fi isbal al-izar. The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) considered an unkempt and careless appearance, and scruffy clothes and furnishings, to be...
