But Allah elevated further the status of Zainab by commanding the Prophet pbuh to marry her which the Prophet did. Zainab was fully engorged with satisfaction of her current status with the Prophet. Some reports have it that her wedding was actually effected above the heavens so it was a commandment by Allah for the Prophet to take her in as his wife. When that happened, the Jews and the hypocrites started lampooning the Prophet’s decision so they were saying that Muhammad has married the divorcee of his own son. Allah in His wisdom chose to use this incident to dismiss the assumption that one’s adopted son is same as his biological son.

We know in Islam, a man cannot marry a woman who has ever been married by his own biological son. The hypocrite wanted to make same assumption about an adopted son and accuse the Prophet with it, but Allah revealed this verse to exonerate His Messenger.
{وَمَا جَعَلَ أَدْعِيَاءَكُمْ أَبْنَاءَكُمْ}
And He has not made your adopted sons your TRUE sons.
Allah said, all these utterances are but mere sayings of your mouths (which holds no substance), it is Allah who speaks the (absolute) truth and guides to the right way.
[Qur’an 33:4].

In essence, the verse sought to establish the following:
It is not possible for a person to have more than one heart. This is both scientifically and logically proven as we all know it now with the help of modern science. In no way can one’s wife be considered as his mother even if he make such utterances. Hence it is prohibited to call one’s wife his mother in an attempt to deny her her due matrimonial rights. The atonement for that is to free a slave or fast two consecutive months. One’s adopted son remains his adopted son and cannot take the position of his biological son. So rules that are applicable to one’s biological son are not applicable to his adopted son. For example, a man cannot marry a divorcee of his biological son, but he can marry that of his adopted son’s divorcee using Zainab’s case as precedent. And Allah knows best.

After talking about the third part of the verse let's talk about the first part before concluding on the second. It is said that the initial part of this verse (that addresses the point one above) was revealed in relation to a man called JAMIL IBN MA’AMAR AL FIHRIY. Jamil was a very intelligent man who can easily and instantly memorize anything he hears without forgetting anything. So the people of Quraish claimed that he must have two hearts that enable him to memorize things in this manner. At a point, he himself started claiming that he is gifted two hearts and both hearts were fully functional and surpass the intellect of the Prophet.

It is narrated that on the day of Badr, when the disbelievers were defeated and they fled, Jamil was seen by Abu Sufyan carrying one of his shoes in his hand and the other one in his leg, so Abu Sufyan asked him; O Aba Ma’mar, what happened to our people (i.e. the kuffar)? Jamil replied: They have been overwhelmed. Abu Sufyan asked him: and why are your holding one of your shoes in your hand whiles wearing the other in your foot? He replied; I thought both were in my feet. People realized then that he could never possess dual hearts.

So Allah revealed the portion of this verse:
{مَا جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لِرَجُلٍ مِنْ قَلْبَيْنِ فِي جَوْفِهِ}
Allah has not made for a man two hearts in his interior (i.e. as claimed by the Quraish and Jamil).

The second part of it is similar to that of Qur’an 58:2 which was revealed in the case involving Aws Ibn as-Saamit and his wife Khuwailah bint Tha’labah. Aws vowed one day that the back of Khuwailah has become the back of his mother (to with, if he sleeps with her again, then he has slept with his own mother) as usually put in our local cultures. This saddened Khuwailah who complained it to the Prophet saying: he (Aws) has made my back his mother’s at the time I became older and lost my structure under him. The Prophet asked Aws to free a maid as atonement for the crime he has committed, but Aws said he could not, the Prophet asked him to fast two months as atonement.

[2:217] Al-Baqarah-الْبَقَرَة
"یَسۡـَٔلُوۡنَکَ عَنِ الشَّہۡرِ الۡحَرَامِ  قِتَالٍ فِیۡہِ ؕ قُلۡ قِتَالٌ فِیۡہِ کَبِیۡرٌ ؕ وَ صَدٌّ عَنۡ سَبِیۡلِ اللّٰہِ وَ کُفۡرٌۢ بِہٖ وَ الۡمَسۡجِدِ الۡحَرَامِ ٭ وَ  اِخۡرَاجُ اَہۡلِہٖ مِنۡہُ اَکۡبَرُ عِنۡدَ  اللّٰہِ ۚ وَ  الۡفِتۡنَۃُ  اَکۡبَرُ مِنَ الۡقَتۡلِ ؕ وَ لَا یَزَالُوۡنَ یُقَاتِلُوۡنَکُمۡ حَتّٰی یَرُدُّوۡکُمۡ عَنۡ دِیۡنِکُمۡ   اِنِ  اسۡتَطَاعُوۡا ؕ وَ مَنۡ یَّرۡتَدِدۡ مِنۡکُمۡ عَنۡ دِیۡنِہٖ فَیَمُتۡ وَ ہُوَ کَافِرٌ فَاُولٰٓئِکَ حَبِطَتۡ اَعۡمَالُہُمۡ  فِی الدُّنۡیَا وَ الۡاٰخِرَۃِ ۚ وَ اُولٰٓئِکَ اَصۡحٰبُ النَّارِ ۚ ہُمۡ   فِیۡہَا خٰلِدُوۡنَ ﴿۲۱۷﴾

They ask you about the command for fighting in the Sacred Month. Say: ‘Fighting in it is a grave sin, but hindering people from Allah’s path and denying Him and obstructing them from al-Masjid al-Haram (Ka‘ba) and turning its dwellers out of it is yet a graver sin (than that) in the sight of Allah.’ And this mischief-mongering is even worse than bloodshed. (These disbelievers) will continue fighting against you endlessly till they turn you back from your Din (Religion) if they become capable to gain (the required) might. And whoever of you turns away from his Din (Religion) and dies as a disbeliever, (all) deeds of such people will become void in this world and in the Hereafter. And it is they who are the inmates of Hell. They shall dwell in it forever.

*Abdullah ibn Jahsh* was a companion of Prophet who was a cousin of Prophet and his sister,Zaynab bin Jahsh. He migrated to Medina with almost all of his family. He and his clan were not long gone when the alerted Quraysh leaders came out and made the rounds of the districts in Makkah to find out which Muslims had left and who had remained. Among these leaders were Abu Jahl and Utbah ibn Rabiah. Utah looked at the houses of the Banu Jahsh through which the dusty winds were blowing. He banged on the doors and shouted: :The houses of the Banu Jahsh have become empty and are weeping for its occupants".

"Who were these people anyway," said Abu Jahl derisively, "that houses should weep for them." He then laid claim to the house of Abdullah ibn Jahsh. It was the most beautiful and expensive of the houses. He began to dispose freely of its contents as a king would share out his possessions.  Later, when Abdullah ibn Jahsh heard what Abu Jahl had done to his house, he mentioned it to the Prophet, peace be upon him, who said: "Aren't you satisfied, O Abdullah, with what God has given you instead, a house in Paradise?". "Yes, messenger of God," he replied, and became at peace with himself and completely satisfied. Once He was him and seven others on the first military assignment.

He gave him a letter but to only read it after two days on the journey. The letter read: *When u read this letter, press on until u come to a place called Nakhlah between taif and Mecca and gather information you can on them for us*.  They turned back and started doing what Prophet ask of them till they saw four Quraish carrying mechandise for the Quraish-skin, raisins and other usual Quraish stock in trade. The Sahabah conferred together. It was the last day of the sacred months. "If we were to kill them," they agreed, "we would have killed them in the inviolable months. To do so would be to violate the sacredness of this month and expose ourselves to the wrath of all Arabs.
