*RESPECT AMONG COUPLES AND APPRECIATING EACH OTHER IN MARRIAGE*
Lack of respect in marriage is one of the major destroyers of marriages today. Husband and wife are suppose to respect each other no matter what. But the moment that respect is gone, that's the end of it.
CAUSES OF DISRESPECT IN MARRIAGE
1. Husband, showing irresponsible behaviour being the leader and head of the family.
2. Husband, refusing to take responsibilities that Allah place upon him.
3. Husband, violating rules which he himself introduced to the wife.
4. Husband, not respecting his wife, he only sees her as a sex machine and kitchen chep.
5. Husband, disrespecting wife's parents and family.
6. Husband not being supportive of his wife and children.
7. Husband who cheats.
8. Husband who doesn't satisfy his wife sexually.
9. Wife who is dirty, unhygienic and smelly.
10. Wife who is uneducated and show irresponsible behaviour.
11. Wife who always argue with her husband.
12. Wife who always try to undermine her husband.
13. Wife who steals from her husband.
14. Wife who always ask for one thing or another without consideration.
15. Wife who doesn't care about her husband, she thinks he doesn't need a woman.
Those are possible behaviours that could initiate disrespect among married couples.
SOLUTIONS
In order to ensure respect, we must follow the saying of Almighty Allāh (Sub-haanahu wata'aala)
“And they (women) have rights (over their husbands as regards living expenses, etc.) similar (to those of their husbands) over them (as regards obedience and respect, etc.) to what is reasonable, but men have a degree (of responsibility) over them. And Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise” [ 2:228].
Also women must accept the fact that Allah has ordained that men are leaders over their wives, and woman must respect and obey them.
“Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allaah has made one of them to excel the other, and because they spend (to support them) from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient (to Allaah and to their husbands), and guard in the husband’s absence what Allaah orders them to guard (e.g. their chastity and their husband’s property). As to those women on whose part you see ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (next) refuse to share their beds, (and last) beat them (lightly, if it is useful); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them means (of annoyance). Surely, Allaah is Ever Most High, Most Great” [al-Nisa’ 4:34]
May Allah guide us all and give us the strength to exercise justice and righteousness. Ameen
