FAJR REMINDER: HELL-FIRE IS REAL AND ALREADY CREATED

Let us now reflect on Hell-Fire. Just as Jannah (Paradise) is already created, Hell-Fire too has already been created and prepared by Allāh for those who reject faith and persist in disbelief. It is not something that will be created later; rather, it already exists. Allāh says: “And fear the Fire, which is prepared for the disbelievers.” [Sūrah Aal-‘Imrān (3): 131]
This verse clearly shows that Hell has already been prepared and is awaiting its people. The reality of this is further emphasized in the Ḥadīth narrated by Ibn ‘Umar (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhuma), where the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said: “Verily, when one of you dies, he is shown his place morning and evening. If he is among the inhabitants of Paradise, then he is among the inhabitants of Paradise. If he is among the inhabitants of the Hellfire, then he is among the inhabitants of the Hellfire. It will be said: This is your place until you are raised on the Day of Resurrection.” [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 1379, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2866]
This shows that after death, a person begins to witness his final destination even before the Day of Resurrection. What a serious reminder for the hearts that reflect. Furthermore, Hell is everlasting for the disbelievers. It is not temporary for them, nor will it one day come to an end. Its flames will not die out, and its punishment will not cease. Those who die upon disbelief will remain there forever. Allāh says: “Verily, Allāh has cursed the disbelievers, and has prepared for them a flaming Fire (Hell). Wherein they will abide forever, and they will find neither a Walī (a protector) nor a helper.” [Sūrah Al-Aḥzāb (33): 64-65]
As for sinful Muslims whose sins are less than Shirk, if Allāh wills to punish them in Hell due to their sins, they will not remain there forever. After purification and punishment, they will eventually be removed and admitted into Jannah by the Mercy of Allāh, as previously discussed.
Dear brethren, Hell is real. It is not a symbolic idea, nor is it merely a state of mind as some people wrongly imagine. It is a true and terrifying place of punishment. Its pain is real, its heat is real, its torment is real, and the regret of its people is real. Salmān Al-Fārisi (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu) said: “The fire of Hell is black and dark; its flames and coals do not glow or shine.” [Tafsīr Ibn Kathīr 22:22]
Likewise, the belief that there is no life after death and no recompense is a dangerous falsehood. There is indeed a Day when every soul shall be rewarded or punished for what it earned.
I beseech Allāh to protect us from His Punishment, save us from the Hell-Fire, and admit us into His everlasting Jannah. Aameen.
