FAJR REMINDER: SIMPLE ACTS WITH GREAT REWARDS

Dhū al-Qa'dah 4, 1447 (22-April-2026)
I have earlier discussed some of the deeds of the people of Jannah, and this morning, I would love to add a few more. These are simple acts, yet they carry immense rewards and can become means for entering Paradise by the Mercy of Allāh.
‘Abdullāh Ibn ‘Amr reported: The Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said, “Verily, in Paradise, are rooms whose outside can be seen from inside and whose inside can be seen from outside.” Abū Mūsā said, “Who are they for, O Messenger of Allāh?” The Prophet said, “For those who speak mildly, feed the hungry, and spend the night standing for the Sake of Allāh while people sleep.” [Musnad Aḥmad 6615]
This noble narration shows us that gentle speech, feeding others, and standing in prayer at night are among the qualities that lead to those special chambers in Jannah. A believer should never underestimate the power of kind words. Speaking softly and with wisdom can soften hearts and strengthen love between people.
Another great deed is spreading Salām. Giving Salām is not just a greeting; it is a means of increasing love and brotherhood among Muslims, and it is also a path to Paradise. Abū Hurayrah narrated: Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “You will not enter Paradise until you have faith and you will not have faith and you will not have faith until you love each other. Shall I show you something that, if you did, you would love each other? Spread Salām (i.e. greet each other with AsSalāmu ‘Alaykum and respond with Wa ‘Alaykum Salām) between yourselves.” [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 54]
How easy and beautiful this act is—saying AsSalāmu ‘Alaykum with sincerity and responding to it properly. Yet, many people neglect it. Salām builds love, removes hatred, and strengthens unity in the Ummah.
The next deed is feeding others. A believer should never be stingy when it comes to giving food. Feeding the poor, the needy, relatives, friends, neighbors, and even guests is among the best of deeds. Whether by inviting them to your home or sending food to them, this act brings reward and blessings. Ṣuhayb Ibn Sinān narrated: Allāh’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “The best of you are those who feed others.” [Musnad Aḥmad 23926] This shows that generosity with food is not something small. It is a sign of goodness and noble character.
Another beautiful act is praying at night while people are asleep. The quietness of the night, especially in its last part, is one of the best times to stand before Allāh, make Du‘ā, seek forgiveness, and ask for one’s needs. ‘Abudllāh Ibn ‘Amr narrated: Allāh’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “Verily, in Paradise are rooms whose outside can be seen from inside and whose inside can be seen from outside.” Anas reported: The Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said, “Feed the hungry, spread (the greeting of) peace, speak kind words, and pray at night when people are sleeping. You will enter Paradise in peace.” [Musnad al-Bazzār 2497]
The night prayer is a special act of sincerity because it is often done when no one is watching. It is between the servant and his Lord. Those moments of worship bring peace to the heart and draw a person closer to Allāh. Indeed, the night—especially its last part—is among the best times for worship, supplication, and seeking closeness to Allāh. It is a time when Du‘ā is answered and sins are forgiven.
I beseech Allāh to grant us Jannah and make us among its people. Aameen.
