FAJR REMINDER: THE PERFECT LIFE OF JANNAH

Shawwāl 27, 1447 (15-April-2026)
Sleep is often described as a form of partial death. As Allāh says: “It is He, Who takes your souls by night (when you are asleep)…” [Sūrah Al-An’ām (6): 60] Yet in Jannah (Paradise), sleep will not exist, because death itself will no longer exist.
The life of the Hereafter is complete and perfect—free from worry, hardship, pain, or illness. In such a flawless state, there will be no need for rest or sleep. Jābir Ibn ‘Abdullāh (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu) reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) was asked: “O Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ), do the people of Paradise sleep?” The Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said: “Sleep is the brother of death, and the people of Paradise do not sleep.” [al-Mu’jam al-Awsaṭ liṭ-Ṭabarānī 919]
Even more remarkable is that the people of Jannah will be free from bodily needs such as urination and defecation. Abū Hurayrah (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu) narrated that the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said: “The first group to enter Paradise will be shining like a full moon on a clear night, and those who follow them will be glittering like the most brilliant stars in the heaven. They will not need to spt, sneeze, or relieve themselves... There will be no disagreement between them. They will not hate each other. Their hearts will be like one heart, glorifying Allāh morning and evening.” [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 3149, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2834]
One may wonder what happens to the food they consume. This too has been explained. Jābir Ibn ‘Abdullāh (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu) reported: The Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) said, “The people of Paradise will eat and drink, but they will neither defecate, nor sneeze, nor urinate. Rather, their food will be digested, emitting a scent like musk. They will glorify and praise Allāh as easily as you breathe.” [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2835]
Indeed, Jannah is a place of pure and uninterrupted enjoyment, where every experience is elevated beyond human imagination. I beseech Allāh to grant us entry into Jannah. Aameen.
