BismilLah.  Assalaamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakaatuh, brothers and sisters in Islam. Jazaakumullaahu Khairan for your duʿāʾ and support for my journey yesterday. Alhamdulillah, the journey was successful. It is important that we occasionally remind ourselves of the true meanings of what we say during, and even before, Ṣalaah. In shaaALLAH, we will begin a series today focusing on the meanings and lessons behind these beautiful words, starting with the dua after ablution (wudhu).  FAJR REMINDER: UNDERSTANDING ṬUMA'NĪNAH IN PRAYER By: Umm Affān Rabī' Al-Awwal 1, 1448 (14-August-2026) The Prophet (ﷺ) once instructed a man to repeat his entire prayer—not because he had abandoned the prayer altogether, but because he had performed it too hastily. Abū Hurayrah (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu) narrated: “Once the Prophet (ﷺ) entered the mosque, a man came in, offered the prayer and greeted the Prophet. The Prophet returned his greeting and said to him, “Go back and pray again for you have not prayed.” The man offered the prayer again, came back and greeted the Prophet. He said to him thrice, “Go back and pray again for you have not prayed.” The man said, “By Him Who has sent you with the truth! I do not know a better way of praying. Kindly teach Me how to pray.” [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 793]” This Ḥadīth contains a profound lesson about the importance of Ṭuma'nīnah in Ṣalāh. BismilLah Let's continue with our studies of suurah An-Naazi'aat from the final verses 42-46 which speaks about "The Reality of the Day of Judgment and How Short This Life Is". Verse 43 فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكْرَاهَا "How are you to mention it?" ALLAH Azzawajal makes it clear that the exact knowledge of the Hour does not belong to the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam.  His responsibility is to warn and remind, not to give a date that ALLAH Azzawajal has kept hidden. ALLAH Azzawajal says: "Indeed, ALLAH Azzawajal alone has knowledge of the Hour..." (Qur'an 31:34). Verse 44 إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَاهَا "To your Lord is its final knowledge."  FAJR REMINDER: THE MOTHER’S GREATER RIGHT TO BIRR By: Umm Affān Ṣafar 28, 1448 (12-August-2026) Generally speaking, a child must show kindness and dutifulness to both parents. However, the mother has a greater right to a child’s kindness and companionship, and her right takes precedence over the father’s when there is a conflict in matters of Birr. Abū Hurayrah reported: A man asked the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ), “Who is most deserving of my good company?” The Prophet said, “Your mother.” The man asked, “Then who?” The Prophet said, “Your mother.” The man asked again, “Then who?” The Prophet said, “Your mother.” The man asked again, “Then who?” The Prophet said, “Your father.” [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 5971, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2548] This means, for instance, that when a child has Two Hundred Thousand Naira to give to both parents, ¾ of it (i.e., 150,000 Naira) goes to the mother while ¼ of it (i.e., 50,000 Naira) goes to the father. BismilLah Let's continue with our studies of suurah An-Naazi'aat from verse 37-38. ALLAH Azzawajal says: فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ ۝٣٧ وَآثَرَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا ۝٣٨ "So as for the one who transgressed, and preferred the worldly life." (Qur'an 79:37–38). These two short verses contain a powerful warning.  FAJR REMINDER: CARING FOR THEM WHEN ALIVE OR DEAD By: Umm Affān Ṣafar 27, 1448 (11-August-2026) One of the ways to demonstrate goodness, kindness, and dutifulness to one's parents is by taking care of their needs, especially when they grow old, weak, and dependent. Remember that when you were young, vulnerable, and unable to care for yourself, your parents carried the responsibility of your upkeep. Therefore, when they reach a stage where they need you, do not hesitate to care for them as they once cared for you. Pay attention to their diet, medications, clothing, shelter, and other essential needs. Spend on them appropriately according to your ability. If they live far away from you, make the effort to visit them and ensure that they are not left without proper care. Many parents have gone hungry so that their children could eat. This is not merely a noble act of character; it is an act of worship that Allāh and His Messenger have given great importance to. To help us understand the seriousness of this responsibility, Allāh has mentioned being dutiful to parents alongside the command to worship Him alone without associating any partners with Him.
